now that I'm peicing together this engine build I'm looking for a way to improve my oiling. I've read about getting new squirters, an drive lines, and pumps, but is there anything else? Is there upgraded squirters? Or are the own ones fine? Is there a specific type of aftermarket oil pressure gauge or will an autometer universal kit suffice?

Basically what are the main parts I should I look at getting to make sure my car will b properly oiled at a 650hp(max) range?

All you need are new squirter bolts...just clean your squirters well in solvent and make sure the nozzles are clear of any crap.

Shim the relief valve spring on the oil pump about 5mm with washers.

Check the oil pump shaft bearing clearances...if you had the block hot tanked, you will likely have to replace them.

Install a full flow oil cooler circuit and get rid of the stock filter head...get the biggest oil cooler you can fit.

If you are going to run the motor to that high a HP, might want to consider plumping in an accumulator.

Omg LOL. I was pretty ontrack with the know how until I read that link xD
I think that's out of my skill range, but it sounds real good. About how much would that run me to take my engine to a shop and have them do that?

I was expecting to hear a nice easy oil pump & cooler upgrade but this sounds alot better.

Also the 650 is mostly just being able to "say I can do it" I'll probably run around 550 all day ( show up rich guys with z06's) and maybe 630 at a dyno day event.

Going to a full flow cooler circuit is the #1 oil upgrade you can do $$$ wise. Shimming the oil pump is easy.

The thread pretty much spells out how to upgrade the cooler circuit...the huge advantage is no more cooler relief valve (it's in the stock filter head). It's a pressure bleed on the system above ~40 psi. The challenge is where to mount the cooler...between the IC and the AC condenser is a good place. Routing the lines is fairly easy, just make sure all the in/out ports are on the correct line ;)

Cost wise - it's not the cheapest upgrade, but well worth the cash. Don't be tempted to go cheap on the thermostat or the cooler...the B&M coolers are hard to beat. Just don't use a tube and fin cooler unless you have to...it's not as efficient. The push lock hose from AeroQuip is good stuff and easier to work than the stainless braided lines.

Jag did a nice job on his following the "how-to" in the above link. Just search the thread for "cooler"...he posted pic's and went with a dual filter head ;)

The Race Cars were based on GE blocks so no squirters and "some" have reported production car blocks without them.

Yes they're a good thing ;)

i almost felt special for a second. i had a race car engine (what else is new, its a supra). Hopefuly my 7M doesn't give me a reason to tear the long block apart and i wont have a reason to find out if i have squirters or not.
