On a bone STOCK 7MGE with around 170k miles, what would the STOCK oil pressure gauge typically read? I just swapped clusters because the gauge on my old one was bad and I'm now able to read pressure which at hot idle is between 0-20 psi and at about 3k rpm(revving not driving) is just a little over 20psi. Is that about the norm?

Seems normal to me, whats your oil pressure while cruising

I just did the instrument cluster swap tonight and have not had it up on the highway yet.

Recommedations for oil? Currently using QS 10W-40. Oh, and read where some people are putting more than five quarts in. What's the benefit?

putting too much oil in is just as bad as not having enough, dont go over what the book tells you. Oil brands, and weights are all on what you perfer and your setup I use 10W-40 castrol syntec in mine. I wouldnt mind using royal purple, but its hard to find in my area.

idling shouldnt be lower then 4.3psi <-------- (is correct)

and abouve 4?k should be around 40ish if i remember correctly. (im not 100% sure i cant remember atm)

if its a lil lower, put lil thicker oil in...

Not to intrude but my dad used to be a ford mechanic and we have ob occassion added up to a half qt. Of transmission fluid it'll make you smoke but it cleans the internals as well.

I prefer castrol 10w-40, but ive got 10w-30 in now for the cool weather.I run 6 quarts b/c ever since my jdm swap it takes 6 quarts for the dipstick to say full, and some times i run an extra half or so on top of that. No issues at.

So you're saying put tranny fluid in your oil system? :icon_conf

yeah, there were a few threads about this a while back. ATF lubes just like oil, and in some cases helps with oil burn/sealing worn gaskets.

pressure at idle, a bit below 20, pressure around 2.5k, 20-60psi, pressure while driving 40-80 psi. straight from the owners manual.

im using mobil1 10w30, and whenever i change my oil the pressure increases for a little while (ive got a leak or a burn somewhere)

be carefull putting any thing in your engine that would cause a fast cleaning and sludge brake down affect, old sludge blocks oil passages in the motor and can resulte in engine failure some oil passages are very small and my cloge fast like rob bearing or cams, do as you want but, i have seen many people put atf in there "JDM honda motor Swap to clean sludge and ended up having to get a rebuild"

i would not reccomend putting any thing in your engine to clean it. just do your oil changes on time and use good quality oils, all oils are not made equal.
