I need to replace my stock op sender, and I cant get the damn thing off. Do any of you have any tips or tricks on how to get this thing loose without taking half the engine apart?

I used wd40, and a wrench man. It's in a tight spot, you'll just have to wrestle with it. Shouldn't be on THAT tight tho, so give it a few tries. And a few minutes to let the wd40 soak.

Standard wrench my friend. i believe it was one of those adjustable ones were you can change the size of the openning by screwing the corkscrew part. It was a while ago, but I know I didn't use any fancy tools.

it would be easier to remove the power steering pump but its not necessary.

I used a craw foot wrench and dat sucker came out easy.

Bringing this thread back to life-
Seems like I have a minor oil leak from the OPS.
Cant seem to figure out how to get to this with a standard wrench.
Can somebody please tell me the exact size I need, the best method to attach this( do I need to go and get crawfoot wrenches? Standard wrench from below? remove PS Pump? )

Help would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Steve

Well to answer my own question.
Do not go to sears and buy the crawfoot wrenches, the do not reach deep enough behind the OPS.
I ended up removing the power stearing pump and resovour, the upper bracket that holds the resovour in place and the top bracket that holds the power stering pump in place. After removing all that the 14 mm wrench slips right in from the front and presto off comes the OPS.

The bad part is that my leak was not from the OPS so I did all that for NADA-.

The leak maybe from the oil feed (do u have 2 copper washers around the banjo bolt)? Or possibly trickling down from the CPS? Just my thoughts...

Suprahero - Thanks for the positive outlook!

Miggles and 1J- I look for excuses to buy tools!, but I think I may return these. $50 for a set of 10 metric, I would prefer to use the $$ for ratcheting wrenches!!

Suprashy- Thanks for the suggestions, I need to do a further investigation. This is a pretty big leak not just a couple of drops. Please keep the thoughts comming!

Thanks guys for giving me a positive twist on this!!

Steve
