So yesterday i was driving on the interstate going about 75mph. I had been driving for about 2 hours when i happened to look at the stock oil pressure gauge and it had completely dropped to 0. I imediatly pulled off the road and shut the car off. I poped the hood to check things out and everything seemed fine. The car still had full oil, no leaks, no smoking.

I poured alittle more oil in the car just to be sure. I starte the car and it started to build oil pressure agian so i got back on the road. It built oil pressure to about 50psi going 65mph then it just slowly dropped back to 0 again. I pulled off the road agian. checked things and everything still seemed fine.. I decided to jiggle the wire going to the oil pressure sender on the block incase it may have had a bad connection.

Got back in the car and oil pressure went up and i drove agian. This time the oil pressure stayed up and i reached where i was going just fine. However, now when ever iam at lower speeds it likes to drop in some pressure below what it normaly would, but not all the way to 0 like it had. Then the pressure will randomly go back up, then back down. Would this be a wiring issue with the gauge? or do i really have an oil pressure problem? There is a high pressure Toga oil pump in the car, not a stock one.

Second issue i noticed after this same trip. car is driving fine on the interstate, but as soon as i get off the exit my battery light comes on. I check my SAFC II for the Bat. voltage and it said 10.6 Volts. Shouldnt it be around 12 volts? So im not sure whats going on there for the battery light to randomly come on. When the car is off but with all electronics on the SAFC reads 12.2 volts, then when i turn my lights on it goes down to 11.5 volts. Then down to 10.6 with the car running. Voltage never dropped lower than 10.5 while driving.

I also notice that the light in the dash for the rear brakes came on at the same time the battery light came on. and both lights stayed on.

Any ideas or advice to whats going on with either issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

IIRC There were a lot of problems with the Toga "High Pressure" Oil Pump.
You're better off getting a Toyota pump and shimming the relief...

As for your voltage issue, check the output of the alternator, if it's putting out 14v at idle, you should be alright, the battery may have a bad cell or could just be getting old. If your alternator checks out, have a garage load test your battery to find out if it's giving you the trouble.

I'v never heard of any problems with the Toga oil pumps. It only has like 10k miles on it too. What kind of problems have you heard about with them?

Ok, i can attempt to do that. A friend of mine installed an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and ended up with rod knock really bad.. The fitting that went into the block was leaking out oil and he didnt know it untill we heard the motor knocking away. Simply because of that i havent been to fond of the idea of trying to install one..lol. Obviously it just needs to be done right just like anything else.

To me it would seem if i was going 75mph and i truely had NO oil pressure like the gauge said, then my motor should have been toast. Right? cause i just happened to look over at the gauge and see it at 0psi. Theres no telling how long it was "reading" 0 psi.

Ok well the battery issue ended up being the alternator. So i replaced that today. That seems to have somewhat fixed the issue i was having with the oil pressure gauge. It keeps full pressure while driving now. I still think i may have an issue with the wiring to the sender unit though. i was in a parking lot and the car was idling and the oil pressure started to drop back down to the zero so while it was still running i poped the hood and moved the sender wire around, then looked back at the gauge and it had gone back up to where the pressure would normaly be at.
