as the title says i have oil built up on top of the pistons and in the spark plug holes. all pistons pass a compression test so i dont think that it is a ring. what other things should i check? valve cover seals, i seen something about a number 3 cylinder gasket? idk where the oil is getting into the valley....ideas?

The spark plugs are sealed by the galley cover in all cars that are OHC. Or some other device, like a tube you see on the 5SFE. After 20+ years, they leak. The valve cover gasket can lean excessively, and oil can still be stopped from entering the comubstion chamber.
