Oil on 2,3,4,6 plugs??

Ok guys, I noticed that my car started missing at high rpms, and I was thinking that it was the plugs. So I went and bought new plugs and went to go change them and noticed that I had oil in the galley and my valve covers were leaking everywhere. So tonight I went and installed new valve cover gaskets, and my new NJK plugs 3330's. When taking out the plugs I noticed that plugs 2,3,4,6 had a ton of oil all over them, but plugs 2&5 only had it on the threads and that's it. Now on 2 & 5 they were much harder to get out. I have never installed plugs too tight. This time I tightened them all down the same amount and a little harder this time.

I checked my catch can and there was hardly any oil in it at all. I pulled it and dumped out enough to just cover a couple of quarters. I'm guessing with my plugs not being tightened too much and my valve covers leaking that was my problem??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Those 14MM hex bolts can leak oil too. If you were getting oil in there at all (even with the leaky valve covers), your #3 wasn't doing it's job (check the TSRM - Engine Mechanical - Cylinder Head, you'll see).

its possible the oil simply leaked into the galley and stayed there from before causing the oil coating. Its also possible your rings are shot, but not nearly as likely

God I hope it's not my rings, that would suck since I had this motor built a couple of years ago with JE pistons.

I see what you mean, I'll check those tonight!

I have come to terms with the fact that i need to tighten my valve cover every oil change because the bolts seem to back out.

I use some bolts with lock washers from ACE hardware that I spent $3 on and mine never back out.
