Oil PSI Gauge?
The oil level is a idiot light on the lexus and 1ZJ cars.
Its a single light output on or off the brain behind it is the "OK Monitor" the little blue box.
I have the schematic for it if you want it ?

I don't understand, why an oil level gauge?? Get oil pressure, definitely tells you more useful information and you already have your dipstick.

I think hes got it confused. You cant get a oil level unless the oil is in the pan. Obviously when the car's running not all the oil is their which wouldnt give you the correct reading. Dosent work like the fuel level.

A lot of Japanese engines have a level indicator, hell even my LSx has one...

Pretty much most cars/ trucks have had a low oil light since about 2000'. Maybe only "budget" cars don't have it.

Last car I have owned that didn't have one was a 1991 Pontiac Bonneville

Technicly a dipstick is a gauge...

There also used to be a time when you had to visually inspect your gas tank for fuel level. There is nothing wrong with having one to tell oil level (airplanes have them as well).

Checking it on the regular isn't going to save your engine if something goes wrong. Good example would be if you popped the line to the stock oil cooler. It wouldn't show on the pressure gauge until it's too late...

I looked into adding one, but the one I found goes in where the oil drain plug goes and hangs down too far for my liking.

I would agree...

Oil line failure or even hitting something in road unexpectedly and punching a hole in the oil pan.. (ive seen it happen).... it would be a nice addition.

I come from a land down under
True story: return leg of an 1800 Km trip I got complacent and didn't check the level before leaving, had to brake hard to avoid an accident, instant RK, A level indicator would have saved that engine.

If you pop a line on your oil cooler its your own dumb fault for not installing SS Hard lines/Braided lines with AN threaded fittings.
Cheap low pressure/quality rubber lines & squeeze clamps are not coming any where near my $10,000 engine.

Oh & the Quart low light was on the first lexus & supra JZA70 so it came out in the early 90s
