Hey guys,

I've very suddenly developed an oil leax somewhere above the intake runner for cylendars 1 and 2.... it's pooling up. Could it really be as simple as a blown cam cover gasket? Or possibly the vent hose which connects there? Is there something else I should be looking at? Prior to this my car hasn't lost a drop of oil since I finally got it up and running about 1200 miles ago.

im 99.999999999 percent sure its your valve cover gaskets... get two gaskets (dont forget the grommets also) and get some allen head bolts for those damn valve covers... they'll never leak again

haha....I've got the same problem but I fixed it. I don't know how...it just stopped after I put the valve cover back on after checking my valve shims. If it's a constant problem you could just use a small bead of rtv over the whole gasket surface (I think Shaeff does that) and it should help. Also...the torque on those bolts is very low, but I've heard that if you overtorque them the gasket will crack/break or something and it won't seal as well. Good luck

No, it's not something that's been an ongoing problem.... just happened after one very long drive.

I have already replaced the bolts, but didn't replace the gaskets at the time.

Someone mentioned grommets? Where are those installed?

Thanks everyone.

Ok, I ordered new gaskets for the cam/valve covers and a new hose (the one that connects right under the oil fill cap..... seems like it actually comming from the hose, so I guess I'll try that first... since the car hasn't been leaking ANY oil at all prior to this I'd rather not mess with the gaskets if they are well sealed already.
