iv just finished building a 7mgte and doin a NA to turbo swap. after driving a ways i got underneath the car and checked for leaks and noticed there was some oil on the filter so i tried to tighten it and wiped it off and drove some more and its still leaking. I replaced the oil pump and shimmed it while i had it all torn apart with a 4-5mm bolt. its leaking around the oil filter, i have a fram oil filter on it. also i noticed once the turbo spooled up the car kinda bogged down a little and didnt produce any power. i have a profec boost controller with all of the vaccum hoses hooked up but i dont have the actual controller hooked up. might this have anything to do with it?

Throw that filter in the garbage. And then clean the mounting surface. Apply NEW engine oil to the filter gasket and tighten to the specs on the box.

Then report back.

Whats the oil pressure reading with that amount of shimming? It might be blowing the seal on the filter.

And yeah, get yourself a mobil m-102 oil filter, you have to use the good stuff if you want the car to last a long time.

Another common problem I've seen is double o-rings. Pull the filter and be sure that there's only one o-ring on the filter. Sometimes the o-ring from the old filter gets stuck on the mating surface... I've seen them leak like mad when this happens.

at idle the op seems to be a little below 20 and while driving the highest i saw it was around 45.

Well you're definitely not blowing the gasket then.

But that whole thing that the oil filter mounts to can also leak, maybe you need a new gasket for that.

Mobil1 Oil Filters are good, but they're rebadged Donaldson filters.
Overpricing is the only issue there.
I recommend WIX or Donaldson, aside from a bypass setup like a Canton or Amsoil BMK-13
