Hi guys, I just recently put in a new motor and I didnt torque down the bolts for the oil pan properly. I sealed the pan to the block using permatex copper silicone. Do i have to pull the motor to re-torque & re-seal the pan? It seems like the cross member and steering rack is in the way of me doing so. It's only a slight leak but its pissin the hell outta me. Thanks.

^ You wouldn't catch my hands under an engine that wasn't supported by something better than a chain running across the top. I suppose if you're willing to compromise safety for ease, then by all means just take the engine mounts off, get your cherry picker and lift it up....

you need to either pull it or drop the front subframe and steering rack a bit, take a look in the tsrm... dropping the subframe isn't as hard as it looks, that's what i did when i put a new gasket on (i used a cork gasket, not sealant)

it isnt that bad, especially if you have a shop with a lift to work at.

at home in the back yard with floor jacks, itd probably be easier to just pull the motor.

i dropped the subrame in my driveway and put it back up in one day... and i'd never done it before... WAY easier than pulling the motor, but that's just my oppinion... didn't really have a problem at all lining up the engine mounts, so it saved a lot of time, not much to take apart either

Save some headache and pull the engine/trans together.... it's a piece of cake. And pull the harness w/ the engine as well, that will also save a lot of time.
