Ok. So I'm replacing my hg and when I removed the 3000 pipe there was oil in it! :aigo: How could this happen? I also found oil in the turbo housing and cold pipe.

is my car fucked?

some info: my front main seal leaks like crazy, i have a k&n cone filter, and because of the main seal my motor is covered in oil.

my theory is the oil came in through the filter.

any help appretiated.

more than likely its from the blow by oil coming from the hoses connected to your 3000 pipe that go into your accordian hose.

its pretty normal. look at the 2 pipes that come off the valve covers. now trace their route and you can see they end up in the accordian hose. this provides vaccum. normal

There's no immediate danger from a little oil making its way into the combustion chamber. Over time however it will build up carbon inside the motor, and as such a catch can is a good idea. If you do decide to use a catch can or dump PCV to the ground, take your intercooler off and run some degreaser or gas through it to clean out all the old oil.

just got my head off today and my pistons already have carbon build up. is there a way i could clean them safely?

i will run degreaser through my intercooler, thanks for the sugestion.

on another note; my block still has some residue left from the hg, what is the best tool for removing this?

When I first got my car, The first thing I did was take off all the pipes, turbo, etc. and inspected everything. Judging from the build up in the pipes, I assumed he hadn't EVER messed with it. I cleaned out all the pipes and such and it seemed to run just a little smoother under boost. And I know that others have already stated this, but just for more support, a little oil in there is normal! :)
