I recently retorqued MKIIIVixens head down to 75 lb. I now have an almost steady drip of oil coming from what looks like the head. Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions, other than take the head off and investigate? Could I have hurt the gasket by retorquing it to 75 lbs.? I need to get this fixed asap, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated............lol:1zhelp:

I'll check it out, but I just replaced them a few days ago. Maybe I did something wrong. Huh, that's a stretch. J.K. I could have not got the gasket on it good, but I'll go check anyways...............lol

I just checked and the valvecover gaskets look brand new. There isn't one drop of oil near them. It is definately coming from around the head at the back corner on the passengers side. Drip........drip...........drip..........drip........drip.........drip.........drip........you get the idea................lol

The head is on an angle, so oil always flows to the back. I would check the cam oil seals or the CPS o-ring as they are the two most common leaks after the valve cover gasket.

Did you use FIPG on the valve cover gasket near the front cam bearing caps?

I replaced the o ring on the cps this morning already, but the oil wasn't coming from there. I don't know what FIPG is. I did use some black silicone on the valvecover gaskets though. Their dry as a bone. This isn't your typical leak. It's more of a pour than a leak. I've already ordered a new hg from toyota. I'm going to remove the head and see what I can find. The motor is new, but I don't know what kind of hg came with it. I will replace it with the toyota hg and I'll feel better with it. Hopefully when I remove the head I can see what the problem is. Any more suggestions, please keep them coming..........lol

The oil feed for the head is at the front. I would seriously take a look at the cam seals before pulling the head (unless you have other BHG issues as well). To check the seals you need to remove the cam pulleys and the black plate that is bolted to the head. Its a lot less work than swapping out the HG.

Why's it gotta be a black plate? Huh, how come it can't be white or yellow or a red plate? ..................... ;)

Yeah, I just replaced mine not to long ago. They were leaking, but they weren't leaking in the back like hers is. I will definately check them though.

JAV, I used the regular screws that come with the valve covers if that's what you were refering to.

I'll post again as soon as I know something about it..............lol

How about a Chrome plate ;)

I would def check the cam seals man...very easy to replace. Also take a look at where the head meets the front plate (the big aluminum cast part with the water pump housing). There is suppose to be silicone sealer where it meets the head and it should be machined to be flush with the top of the block.

Hmm.

Were you laying down on the ground under your car working on it the previous night?

My bad Jspec...I didn't notice the sarcasm eyes at the end of your post. I was in a serious mood, I guess. Normally I read everything as a joke first, then go to serious mode.

Hopefully you read this before you end your life. I tell you what, I will get in my time machine and redo this thread.................;)
