I have recently purchased a 1JZ-GTE supra from Japan, and I was wondering what oil filters I should use. Do these need to be imported, or tracked down here, or can I use something else that would work, possibly a 2JZ filter. If someone could inform me that would be great. Thanks.

a 2JZ oil filter would do just fine. That's what on my car right now.

Congrats on the new supra, let me know if you need any parts, I have 5 RHD supra here in Alberta. A Fram PH3614 filter fits most Toyota engines, including 7M. I would suggest spending the extra dollar for a correct Toyota OEM 2JZ filter from the dealer. You will see better perfromance by switching out the plugs which are usually worn (NGK 3330 or 6097), and by using high octane fuel with booster to keep the ecu happy. Enjoy!

I paid 3.75 at the toyota dealer today..bought 3, i think they were on sale..sounded too cheap.. lol

And fyi, the 2jz filter is excatly the same part number as the 7mgte filter, which in turn should be exactly the same as the 1jz filter...and yes i checked the part number at the dealership
