hey guys,

does anyone have (or can point me in the right direction of) any pics of there oil catch tank installed? im going to get one but wanted to see how its installed..... specificly after a pic of an install on a 7mgte with a stock manifold and stock accoridain hose,

i was just going to use the two ports off the valve covers to the can then run one return line back to ine accordian hose....

but then dont know what to do with the line that runs from what looks like behind the thottle body to meet up with the two lines off the valve covers the goes to the accordian hose??? (not sure id that makes sense, to anyone else but it makes sense in my head :aigo: )

any help much apreciated

You can try the search option on here, there is a lot of info about the install.
I would say for the definitive install check out Ian's-IJ install in "What I did today".

after reading that tread i still have a question - what would be wrong with runing the 2 valve cover hose to a catch can and having a filter straight to atmosphere (apart from the environmental emissions) then running the trottle body line back to the accorian hose (or just capping it off)

Positive crank case ventalation (PCV) is the name of the system you are putting the catch can in, not the Hose to atmosphere (HTA) system.

the PCV system serves several purposes
1) combust environmentally harmful incomplete combustion blow by gases, and prevent it from entering your oil (as it can contain HC - unburnt fuel)

2) prevent positive pressure form building up in your crank case, which can cause oil seal ejection.

3) increase efficiency by reducing wind resistance in crank case (due to vacuum applied)

Granted, #3 is a stretch....but bottom line is you need a vacuum applied to your catch can to draw the crap out that you don't want floating around in your crankcase. Just hooking it up to a can and hoping it does something is not good enough and would do nothing of what the original system was design to do, only satisfying feature #2. This configuration would be inferior to the stock system.

Wow so many people with so many different opinions on the right way to set this up,

so from what i can gather seems like the most popular way to go is -

route the 2 valve cover hoses to the catch can then -

run a hose from catch can back to the accordian hose and T into that hose the hose from behind the trottle body?

any views positive or negitive on that setup?
