not quite right in what way?? Too loose? cant torque it down all the way? Are you using the right bolt? haha i've done that once, tried torquing down a bolt that was the wrong one and ended up snapping it off inside :icon_razz

Try one of your local auto parts stores and see if they have a 7/16x14 helicoil setup..Should come with coil installer and coils.Cant remember what size drill bit you need but they should know at the store....I put these in mine and awesome hold with no chance of stripping upon tightenening and hopefully they will hold my t-70(gt-45) with out pullin out....I used 2 inch long hardened bolts with a headbolt washer and lock washer...:evil2: Hope this helps....Drill all the way into the bottom of the hole and install the coil about 1 to 1 1/2 turns past outside edge of hole....Take your time tightenening the tap maybe two to three turns in then back it out..Use cutting oil to aid in making it easier and it wont clog up the tap as bad...

To simplify it, go to an autoparts store with and exhaust stud in hand. Have them get you a helicoil kit of that thread. Remember to install the helicoil with red loctite. Drill the hole as straight as possible.

When I did a head job on my 7M damn near all the exhaust manifold studs pulled the threads out of the head. The 7M is notorious for that. You might as well helicoil all of the exhaust manifold threads.

I do want to upgrade to the 7/14 bolt and i saw the previous thread but no one mentioned what size stud they used. So the tap is a 7/14x14 heli coil kit? Does any one know what the drill bit size is? Much appreciated. I do know that i need red rtv and copper anti seize.

i found this, that big arron wrote, "So I came up with a fix/upgrade. I go up to a 7/16 stud with coarse thread on the head side and fine on the manifold side with a 7/16 helicoil in the head. The coarse side has larger diameter threads that will not strip out of the head. The fine side lets you get accurate torque like stock. I use metal locknuts like stock too"

looks like i will try to track down some 7/16's helicoil kit, if not, be sending arron a payment.

i would really liek to find these local just for the fact i want to drive this beast!

i left the studs in the head when i removed the exhaust mani, and when i got to the part of putting it back on, i finger tightend all the nuts on, and started criss crosing them in slowly, got t one of the middle bolts and no resistence, like i didn't finger tighten the nut upto the mani.. then i noticed the stud was growing.. so backwards i worked!

i already picked up every thing from napa today, they were 4 studs short, so they ordered them for me , should be in stock by noon tomorrow, just in time for my to start working on it after class tomorrow. with that, i also got a discount since im a automotive student at the local comunity college.

all other wise, i would have, after picking up this stuff, i realized, if i didn't get the discount, it would have been cheaper to go with driftmotion (of course the wait time too.

the motor is currently out of the car on a engine stand, so drilling and taping these should be no problem.
