Those that know me know I don't drink, pretty much EVER!

And after last night it's all so painfully clear to me why I felt that way. The toll on ones body is just not worth it. Even if it was worth it, you wouldn't remember what it was that tip the scales making it worth it.

Just typing this is making me sweat.

So I started this "Magical cures" for the hangover thread. I hope to be alive to read some of them in the coming hours, but thats up in the air at this point. Or atleast it feels like thats the case.

I know a shot of oxygen from my welding tanks (not directly obviously, I'm not still drunk) in the past always gave a little relief.

But that's AAAAALLLLLLL the way out in the garage (whine whine whine). So far away from here. Like damn near 60 feet!

LOL

Water. Drink plenty of it. The moment you start with the hurty brain - get yourself a bottle of water, or a large glass, and drink small amounts every 5/10 minutes for about an hour. Eat an orange, something fruity with sugars in, replenish your electrolytes. Energy drinks might sound like a good idea - but really, theres no substitute for pure WATER and fruit. Banana's are a good one for sugars and potassium as well. Worked last night - Amy came home trashed with hurty brain, and after water and a satsuma, and lots of pampering, she was fine, and no trace of a hangover. Going to sleep drunk is NOT a good idea either.

That's why you drink pedialyte. Specifically designed to rehydrate children (usually because of sickness, like diarrhea). Yes you'll look weird buying it with a hangover, but it works.

Fun quote:
"Did you know that having a hangover is not having enough water in your body to run your Krebs cycles? Which is exactly what happens to you when you're dying of thirst. So, dying of thirst would probably feel pretty much like the hangover that finally bloody kills you." -A Beautiful Mind

this isn't a cure more so rather a preventative measure. Those 5 hour energies have a shit ton of B12 in them so take one before you drink and you might not have a hang over in the morning :).

this is what i did and i drank practically (not literally i know surly doesn't come in 24 packs) a 24 pack of surly furious. EEEESH

2 sure ways to avoid being hungover

1. Don't start drinking or
2. Don't stop drinking

That being said, I usually prefer hydration and Excedrin followed by a big greasy breakfast, preferably chicken fried steak and eggs.

I wonder if any type of alcohol has a higher or lesser potential to make you feel "hungover". I never will drink "Tokillya" ever again due to a "incident" when younger. But I wonder if the same situation with the same amounts of (insert other "type" here) would have had me swearing off it for life too. Technically I suppose it's all the same. But I do know some people that become total assholes on rye, or evil incarnate when drinking red wine etc. Is this just mental?

Different types of alcohol have different effects on the brain.

I've found I'm pretty mellow on rum/whisky, sentimental and sometimes giddy on vodkas, tequila makes want to party...

The greasy food thing works best right when you leave the bar. That's why Waffle House fills up at 2am.
Hydration after the fact helps but drinking water the morning/afternoon before drinking is much better.

Tequila and I used to have a great relationship. I was happy and party-time Theresa with tequila. We've gone through a real bitter divorce. Now I'm headachey and pass-out-on-the-couch-in-odd-positions-for-three-hours Theresa with tequila. And I am crushed by this, because I used to REALLY effing love tequila.

...Mike gets molesty on scotch, and happy-violent on goldschlager, though I've not been witness to the latter.

I don't really get hangovers. At most I feel like ass for the first hour or so I'm up. My friends swear by burnt toast or greasy food and sweet tea. lol
