so, a off duty sherrif followed me to work today, and threatened to tow my car and arrest me, after he saw me pass some cars on the wrong side (not a passing zone) (also, take my word, i knew what i was doing), but then he said if i went to work tomorrow (sat) he would arrest me... my question is, can he do this? or is he just trying to scare me

He cant legally do squat now...but do you really want an overachieving sheriff deputy pissed off at you? he could make it his goal in life to make you miserable...say "yes sir" alot and massage his ego...then get in your car and leave and curse him behind his back! :naughty:

will do (already used the yes sir thing a lot), but i honestly keep it within my driving limits, and my car's limits, i'd prolly feel like killing myself if something happened to my car, so i tend to keep that in mind when i drive, but i was just curious, because the guy was being a real asshole about it, and probably threatened me at least 20 times

Do you have a different car and an alternate route? And I was going to suggest the camera too. Don't tell him you have it though. And if he does anything ask if his onboard camera was on. Legally if there's no proof you can't get a ticket. Tell him you'll take it to court, countersue(sp) and tell him he'll never be a cop again. Also if he did have his onboard camera on take it to court because it will be thrown out immediatley because the ticket date would be wrong and/or cause he was offduty. Make sure to read up on your local "entrapment" laws. If they say 3 turns make 3 turns as soon as he gets behind you and make sure you have him on camera following through all 3 turns. As well as all of the above he is "profiling" you based on prior terms. So basically your good to go, but you never know, some cops are crooked and might be able to nail you no matter what.

wether they wear the badge or not, they are a cop 24 hours a day.
can he bust you for driving your car to work? no way.thats your only source to go to work to make money to pay your bills. but,if you drive like you did the day before and he catches you,say good bye to that car

Yup, once a person is sworn in to becoming an officer, they are no longer normal citizens, they become law enforcement 24/7... aight peace :chicken:

a year ago i got a speeding ticket from a cop on his way to work. he was off duty and on his personal motorcycle. gave me the ticket for 80 in 65 even though i had burst up to 100 real quick and slowed down, he had no way to tell how fast i was actually going.

took it to court, was dismissed. the judge said he couldn't ticket me on his personal motorcycle since he had no lights, sirens and was off duty at the time.

if you think i'm so dishonest that i would make up a situation, then go right ahead and call my manager at dominoes and ask him about it and heard what the sherrif said. The sherrif went inside and talked to my manager about my driving, and just about all of the other people that work there know about it, so you can either ask for Reuben, my manager, or ask anyone about a sherrif coming in pissed off about my driving yesterday (my name's dallas BTW). The number's 336-643-6002 (dominoes at the intersect. of hw. 150 and lake brandt rd.).

yeh, that's what i meant, i guess our vocab is used a little differently, but he was off the clock in his pick up truck, that's why i didn't know there was a cop around

I come from a land down under
When I was your age I had a thing going with a local Cop

after I lost my licence I bought a motorbike to get to work (Helmet gave me some anonimity) I came out one morning to find him parked across my driveway so I left the helmet and walked out past him and caught the bus!

lol, nice, well, it just seems law enforcement gets worse and worse every day, along w/ the people that live here, and the people that operate motor vehicles. The way I see it, we're in a sort of a dark age right now... people are not inteligent as they used to be, morals are lowered, so are standards. i'm just ranting, but this is honestly how i feel, and i hope to get out of the U.S. as soon as possible. Hopefully I'll be able to move to canada. FAR up north, where trees actually grow, and the population within 100 square miles is around 100 people.
