I am goofing around and am building a front brake set up. I am using a Toyota 4runner four piston caliper and a bracket made from 1/2 in aluminum. I need a 13 inch rotor that has the same dimensions as the stock rotor. I prefer to get one from a salvage yard because this is for fun/experimentation. I got the calipers for free and I am doing this on a old RHD front assembly. So you can see my hesitation in buying anything new until I decide it is worth it.

So Far I am out the 15 dollars it too to get the Aluminum stock.

Maybe 20 bucks for junk yard rotors that I could get turned. Then I would test and if it worked well. I would then get brand new pads and rotors.

This is just an idea of fitment. you can see the need for larger rotors. This is with the stock jza70 rotor

I think the main thing to worry about is depth/ offset.
Is an LS400 rotor larger? Maybe check the offset on one of those.

I remember reading the 350z track rotor fit on our hubs. Does your jza70 have abs? cause you may be able to get a mk4 rotor to fit I had the center hole bored on my rotors so I can use a hub ring the rotor is sweet on my jza70 non abs hubs but they were modified to have the mk4 calipers bolt on before I bought them so dont know if anything else was done to accommodate them

Hey, if you can make a good setup on the cheap, who is to flame you if it works well for a good price? :)

I did a bbk on my airbagged toyota pickup with4 runner calipers. I bought some wilwood rotors and hats. They were 12.19" x .81" and the hats were 7.62 bolt circle with a 2 inch offset. You could get a variety of offsets.

this is actually pretty cool.. I really do want a cool halfway decent stock alternative to the factory mk3 brakes.

Wilwoods and the rest are amazing, but I don't track my car or anything of the sort, so having a decent bump in initial stopping power would be great. I am convinced just upgrading rotors and pads can't provide what I'm looking for..

How are you planning ot adjust the brake bias to account for the change in brake torque on the front wheel swith these larger rotors and different sized calipers? That would be my biggest concern. You could end up with less brake fade, but worse overall stopping distance if you can't correctly adjust the bias if the brake torque has changed.

As a general rule, the dangerous situation is having too much rear bias, not front. Lock the rear wheels and you're going for a not-so-fun ride...

Sidewinder, it is just under a half an inch.

As far as Bias if it becomes an issue I will get a manual controller and just do pulls until is is good. Kinda like you need to do with a trailer brake controller, or i will do the Evo upgrade. I did find out that later model 4runners have 2 piston rears.??

Dylan, I am going to keep everyone posted on progress and I am taking pictures and will make any and all information available to the community.

Finished the bracket measuements, got the caliper to line up and the rotor to rotate with out rubbing.
the parts X'ed out need to be cut off. I also plan on using much better bolts then these.

You can see the direction I am going. Now I am going on the hunt for a rotor that matches the Stockers.
