I am looking for a plug identical to the OEM plug in every respect besides heat range. The plug needs to be one to two heat ranges colder for my setup. Does anyone know of any place I can find a chart displaying all the different NGK/Denso plugs with a comparison of all their specs? Seems like an impossibility trying to find something like this.

The oem plugs are

NGK 5275 BCPR6EP-N-8 Double Platinum

OR

Denso 3113 PQ20R-P8 Double Platinum

Either of these plugs will do fine in one to two heat ranges colder. Thanks for any help.

actually its on alot of the manufactuers websites but for ngk the heat range is the 6 in bcpr(6)ep and the next colder heat range is a 7 and so on. also would not recommend the platinums for the cost turbo cars really like the copper plugs, i use ngk bkre7 and love them

FWIW, I use IS300 coils and denso K20R-U plugs from a Tundra and haven't run into any problems yet, I have seen 22's, but I think i was on an SC Tc (not sure about that one)

You can use the K series plugs if you are using the IS300 coils because they are designed for an ISO plug :)

If you're on stock coils/wires,you'll have to stick with the Q series JIS plugs since they are a little longer/make contact with the plug top.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info guys, I had no idea the heat range number was in the part number of the NGK's. I am working on tracking a misfire down so I am trying to get my entire ignition system back to 100% stock so I can troubleshoot from there.

I am making about 375rwhp with my 7M at 16psi, If I run stock heat range plugs, am I sure to run into detonation problems? It doesn't look like stock plugs exist in a colder heat range.

I'm at ???>400Hp on a 67mm @ 17/18 psi with no such problems? My tuner suggested an NGK plug (that I bought 6 of just in case) but the number eludes me atm. I'll get it when I get home tonight.

What ignition are you using? (management/ignitor/coils/wires/etc)

MaftPro piggyback for management, completely stock ignition besides 1 heat range colder than stock Iridium NGK's. Plug wires are very new NGK replacements. I have run Autolite Coppers and these plugs, both of them have a slight miss at idle and low loads, stock platinums did not. I just want to go back to stock so I can verify whether or not it was a coincidence that swapping plugs made the difference. Of course I don't want to buy a set of plugs and throw them away cause I cant run them with that heat range.

Autolight coppers suck. Get the ngk. I

I used iridium ngk on my 7m with no issues till they got old then it was coppers. Coppers on my 1j and the perfect.

OK, a little late but still got it!

My tuner recommends NGK BCPR7ES plugs on the Supras he tunes. FYI- most Supras around here who get tuned by Shane are running E-85 and 2JZ's, so bear that in mind, but I still have a set on hand just in case. I also have a set of those Denso K20R-U plugs as well.

I would really like to test out a theory I have about the twin ground Toyota/Denso plugs, but I can't seem to find a copper version :( Something like a PK20TR-11. Might be worth testing when I go to the dyno to get the full tune done! Only downside I could see would be the thin ends of the electrodes being a possible hotspot, as well as the gap being very very hard to adjust reliably.

Speaking of which, I should probably change out the plugs from 2 years ago! (only put 2-3000 miles on the engine since it was built)

Heres the problem, I have looked at probably every spark plug thread on this forum, and for every person that says one plug is great, there is another that says it sucks and or caused a misfire etc. Thats why I need to go with STOCK, something I KNOW should work flawlessly. Looks like what I am trying to find doesn't exist unfortunately, I might just have to get some stock platinums and see if there are any detonation problems. Going to be a waste of money if I can't end up using them though.

Thanks for the info. I know there are some great plugs for high hp/boost but even the ones that seem to be great for power seem to cause drivability or idle misfires. I have heard a lot of complaints for instance that copper NGK's caused an idle misfire.

I think I should also mention the gaps- 23 thou is where my plugs are currently set, and that's what Shane recommends. Much less gap and I could see idle becoming not so fun.

I run NGKiridium bkr8eix, there not jis hight but it does still work thou and does not ark in the boot with oem ngk plug wires far as I have scene

in less there is a proper plug out there in the 8 heat range ?

heat range of 8

I had set of 7 coppers but they did not cut it

i have mine gaped at 25 but i have a ignition amp box

this time around i indexing my plugs

see what i have been told is there these littel bumps in each cyc off to the side, what i have be told is to index to these bump for best flame front

so I gonna try it on the dyno coming up so i kinda wounder if it will do any thing at all since the spark will jump to were ever it wants at that given time ???????????????????????
