Ok so I'm puttin a 1jz and r154 into a 91 toyota pickup 4x4. I plan on keeping it 4x4, by using a divorced t-case, and wheeling it quite often. I shooting for around 400 hp. Now for my question. What clutch would be good for it? I'm looking for stock pedal feel, smooth engagement, and the ability to "slip" the clutch.

A 1jz is a horrid choice for an offroad truck....maybe good for baja and dunes but not for backwoods!!

Hell a 22re would be a much better motor! 7m even better as it's a torque monster!

Good luck but speaking from offroad experience (I'm Canadian it's what we do) your motor choice is fubar....jz has no power till upper rpms which is not the way to go in off road!

yea man... 1jz is not a good choice for a motor in an offroad intended truck. plus the higher chance of breaking parts offroad, and its not quite so easy to get parts for a 1jz.

Well the main thing we have around here to legally go wheeling is mud pits, which upper rpm's will benefit. The 22re in the truck was toast, and I had the 1j laying around. I figure if anything goes in the bottom end I'll just make a 1.5 jz.

Yeah id run a 1JZ offroad! be sweet to have that kind of power in my pickup.

My choice would be an N/A 7MGE because I dont think id do any real wheeling with turbo's. For the 7M swap all you need is 5MGE motor mounts,W58 bellhousing and clutch(bell housing bolts up to a W or G series 4cyl trans), that way you still have the stock gear driven case, isnt too much more to do besides wiring.
