May be the dumbest question on earth, but im having a super brain fart moment. I want to get rid of the fan on the front of my engine 7mgte. Dont bash but I believe its called the "Fan Clutch"?? Its the fan that makes the car sound like a damn semi, if that helps.

I need to know what its called, and how the hell to get rid of it. Please and thank you!!!

Ive tried searching but its kinda hard to when your unsure of the part name. lol

It's probably there for a reason.......Toyota had some really smart people help design that thing........:biglaugh:

What are you wanting to replace it with?

remove the 4 nuts holding it on, take the fan and clutch off, replace the studs with bolts and watch the temp rise to "H" and wonder why you have a bhg.

I know which fan you're talking about, I just never knew it was that annoying. I'm sure there are a few threads on this in the technical section. Have you searched for similar threads? Good luck.

We know what you're talking about. There's two parts, a fan and a fan clutch. The fan clutch is a viscous coupling that drives the fan at different speeds based on the temperature of air coming through the radiator. You should keep them...

but it might be when the e fans do not flow the air the engine needs at slow speeds or stopped or its really hot out.

Ive seen supras without them though. Now I know Im not being clear or Im not thinking of the right part.

And I worded my 1st post wrong, I dont want to get rid of it, I want to replace it. Sorry for that.

Its the part that is to the far right. I want the fan gone. I know it can be done, I've seen many supras without that fan.

Btw, the fan would get replace with 2 flexlite fans on the radiator.

I once ran electric fans. I then realized what overheating was. Now I just run the stock setup and everything works great.

I have 2 fans that push or pull 2500 cfm. That wont be enough?

What's enough? A common myth is more is better but in reality too much is bad. There's a lot of other things involved with e-fans most people have no clue about. Suffice to say an engine that doesn't overheat is *not* an indication of a correctly engineered e-fan install. Not even close...

As far as flow though, you'll likely be downgrading the fan by swapping it with anything else.

I planned on that. I just want the fan attached to it gone. But everyone is saying it may overheat. I've heard from a few people that getting rid of the fan will free up a few hp. And in the process make the hideous looking fan go away.

There's something about cruising the streets in a highly modified 20+ year old Japanese car, and absolutely raping the newer domestics/imports that I just couldn't replace with a newer car... - shaeff

I just noticed this quote.
Truer words have never been spoken.
I've been doing this for 20 yrs. with my 88.

A few hp?.........Don't be an airhead.........:icon_bigg

Leave it. Spend your time, money and efforts somewhere that might actually gain you some real horsepower.
