I have been doing a COMPLETE rebuild on my 1990 7M-GTE. Just got my head and block back from Boise Cylinder Head. They decked the block .015 and milled the head .006, then my work really began... In the last couple of days I have completely disassembled the head for a clean and precise rebuild. I know, I know... Pics or it didn't happen lol, so here is something better! Videos! They are also a little informational and you may want to bookmark them if you are doing it for your first time!

1. Removed the intake and exhaust valves- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsKiuRVtnJg&feature=plcp

2. Cleaned the intake and exhaust valves, and the mating surface- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUiwRXQM7GI&feature=plcp

3. Lapped the intake and exhaust valves- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BCh9CMRdkw&feature=plcp

4. Installed the new valve guide seals- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_Jm0-HQFvI&feature=plcp

5. Blueprinting the water jacket ports on the head in order to remove old buildup and create a clean and clear path for the water to travel and cool the engine- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSlInWFGkes&feature=plcp

6. Put the intake cam back in and am currently measuring the clearance between the cam and shims. In spec is between .006 & .010, had 7 that were not in spec... So we are going to have to take the cam back off and use a caliper to measure my extra shims and find the right ones to put in- NO VIDEO!

I will make a video of it soon though. I still got a lot left to do! We are going to be putting new main and rod bearings in the short block, maybe new pistons(mine are still good and I have two sets for this car), and for sure new piston rings! More to come!

Rebuilt my turbo today. Painted some parts to make it look nice too.

Lol, that's a long drive, I'd want it to be in my Supra too! Did you use to live here in Boise?

looks great dude!

Thanks man! I've got to finish measuring that head and get the right shims on there. The turbo was a nice break lol. Working on the head is so tedious...

My girlfriend did. her dad gave us a 2001 4x4 v6 ranger ext cab. Good free truck made it worth the long drive. I enjoy taking road trips so it was a vacation to me. The mountains are beautiful up there but driving through that pass in Nevada was kinda scary considering i dont do any driving in the snow regularly.

Didn't work on the head today, tackle that tomorrow. But did end up cleaning and painting the valve covers. Going to paint the block the same color...

Just realized that I haven't even shown you guys the exterior of the car... Got it as a parts car then decided to just rebuild it lol. It has a front body kit and aftermarket side skirts. Interior is a bit rough, and filled with parts right now, but I will invest in that after I get it running. Use to be a faded red, but here are the pics now, enjoy!

Hella sick. I LOVE that color. In fact I'm repainting the Supra once I fix it. Going to paint all the white body parts the same lime green, and leave the rest black. Should have worked on the head today, but just ended up repainting a few parts...

Completely finished one side of the head. Did the shim shuffle and got the exhaust side done and within spec... Have to commit to doing the intake tomorrow. Head work is exhausting lol. Nice to take a break and change focus on other parts sometimes.

Got the block on the stand, getting ready to degrease and paint...

Yeah, the side skirts came with the car, and the front bumper was damaged. So rather then buy a stock front bumper I found the aftermarket front bumper on Craigslist here in Nampa for $65. Couldn't beat that deal, so I jumped on it. I think that it looks pretty good :) I don't have the fog lights in right now, and the turn signal lamps are also out, so that may make it look a lil goofy. All will be done soon though. I'm hoping to have it all finished and put back together by mid July, granted I get the time to finish it all.

Making good progress! Is that the block I sold you?

Nope, ended up finding a different block in Payette. Came with a lot of extra parts. The extra block of yours that I got from you must have been run hot because it had melted and welded pieces of the piston to the cylinder wall. I'm sure you didn't know about it, so no hard feelings at all bro. I was able to use the crankshaft though so there is a positive.

IF ANYONE NEEDS A BARE SHORT BLOCK I HAVE ONE FOR SALE! LOL. It will need a bore and hone to get the piston metal off the cylinder walls but other then that it seems to be a good block and still has the stock bore(3.26). You might also want to deck it depending on the head gasket you want to use. The only reason I didn't get the machine work done is because I was able to find a whole engine, though completely disassembled, in Payette for only $300. The head had a slight crack by the exhaust side, but the block was perfect, only needed a hone and deck, so that gave me a LOT of extra parts. If anyone needs something hit me up with what it is so hopefully I can get some money back out of this thing and finish buying the other parts I need like a metal head gasket and ARP head bolts. Thanks!
