Hey guys...I'm in a bit of a situation. I get my car fixed by one of the better shops around Ottawa and these guys are the ones to go if you have a performance car.

I'm installing an safc2, RC550s, and a fuel pump...
now my problems is that I had the intention of installing a lexus AFM, but the guys at the shop keep telling me that's it's unnecessary, yet when i read the different posts here, it's always 550's to add 25% more fuel and lexus AFM to balance out and add 25% more air...

so i'm kinda confused on which to follow...
have people ran the safc2 & 550s without the lex afm??

i'm bringing the car into the shop soon, so i would like to know asap...
thanks in advance for the help guys.

You could pull it off without the Lex but you'd have to cut a ton of fuel with the S-AFC2, precisely 25%:evil2: I would just get the Lex afm to balance it out and be able to tune from a good base.

Lexus afm+18 years old 440cc injectors =lean ; because lexus afm is 25% larger (more air) than stock afm, and 550cc is 25% more fuel than 440cc .So lexus afm+550cc is recomended. I have lexus afm+550cc on my 89' 7mgte supra , and it read 10:1 at 6000rpm on zeitronix wide band so i use safc2 to fine tune it to 11:1 just for safe.

thanks for the input guys...i just don't understand why they would recommend that...i couldn't wrap my head around why they would add 25% more fuel, only to tune it out with the safc2...

Just get the Lexus AFM and the 550cc injectors, Trust me it puts your air fuel ratio at about where it needs to be.. the rest can be fine tuned. If you don't do the Lexus then you'll be screwing up your timing like crazy by taking out 25% of fuel.

And obviously don't do just the lexus AFM, 1) stock old injectors as mentioned above 2) it's proven un-safe 3) you're gonna need more fuel anyways.

550's are a must with the Lex. The 550's can be run on the stock AFM, but you're going to be pulling mass amounts of fuel out.

Run the Lex afm and be done with it. Chances are you're still going to need to pull fuel.

Whether you use a Lex AFM or a SAFC you are still pulling 25% fuel, just doing it a different way. The only advantage of the Lex is the wider body has a flow advantage over the stock AFM. The SAFC scales the frequency from the stock AFM, so no fundamental difference in approach either way (SAFC = super air-flow converter).

Impact on timing is identical in both cases.
