So I got my hands on a 10lb bottle of Nitrous Oxide made by dynotunenitrous.com I have a heavily built up 7mgte on the outside but still stock internals on the in, but recently rebuilt. (Plan to put in forged internals in December)

Some upgrades include,
walboro fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator, set to 43psi
full 2.5in hard pipes with intercooler
radiator
550 injectors
HKS VPC
safc to tune
Holset he351cw turbo
ACT Clutch 6 puck

The nos kit has all the hoses, solenoids and a fogger nozzle with a 75 shot on it but also have the fittings for the 35 and 50 shot as well. It’s a wet kit so uses both NOS and a shot of Fuel for the fuel rail. Iv already got all the fittings and materials needed. My idea is to just have a push button to open the solenoids when i want because I don’t have the Nos computer thing to engage at set rpms. I’m planning on installing this all on Thursday and wondered if anyone else had any experience installing or using NOS on their 7mgte or any other motor for that matter. Just trying to get any idea or pointers before using this system. Any ideas or suggestions are helpful.

ka BOOOOOOM!!!! not shure nitrous would be safe with a turbo.....maybe with forged pistons...idk...risky i think...JMO

Poodles, what do you mean by control system? like when the nos is injected? I know it has to be injected any time after 3000 rmp. I am planning on having one switch to turn to power on, and then have a push switch some where on the throtle linkage to be pushed when WOT.

What do you think if that makes sense

Dont really have any sort of timing control. Like a standalone. Forged pistons would help as well. Might be a better idea to put it aside until your better setup for it.

I've put nitrous on a few different cars. Since you can't really control the timing on these without going standalone, it's kinda risky. However, if you're still running the stock 10*, you should be just fine with a 50 shot. The general rule of thumb is 1* for every 50hp of nitrous. IE, 100 shot pull 2 degrees, 150 pull 3, etc.

You HAVE to have an arm switch and a WOT switch. Typically the arm switch is just a toggle and the WOT switch is a microswitch that you mount on your pedal assembly. There are kits that use voltage readings from the TPS instead, though. Ideally, you'd run a fuel pressure safety switch, too. Another safe guard for your motor if your fuel pump dies mid pull. A window switch (which lets you set RPM ranges for the nitrous, IE 3000 to 6500) would be nice, but isn't necessary. Remote bottle opener and bottle heaters are nice, but not necessary. Purge kits are nice, but not necessary. However, if you add all these things to your nitrous setup I think you'd like it more. Most people put the bottle in the trunk/hatch, which makes it difficult/dangerous to open and close on the road. Lower bottle temperature will cause pressure drops, not having a purge can give you an inconsistent nitrous mix in your lines. Neither of those are causes for concern, but you will get less performance out of the car in either case.

Not sure why you'd go this route rather than turn the boost up. I'd think an HE351 could easily max out 550cc injectors. The only thing I'd really be concerned about is maxing out the stock fuel lines, but I can't remember where that starts to become a problem power wise.

Bottom line, even if you decide to run the 75 shot or more, motor is coming out and getting rebuilt with better guts this winter anyway, might as well throw some spray at it. I would recommend mixing some higher octane in there though. Race gas, toulene, xylene, SOMETHING to get that octane up.

Do you have any videos of your car btw?

Edit: One more thing. Make sure you use separate relays for the fuel and nitrous solenoids, and do a dry test (electrically connected but no fuel or nitrous) to make sure both solenoids work. Triple check your jets before you take it for a test run. Don't want to accidentally put a 25 shot fuel jet in with a 75 shot nitrous pill. lol

Thats the information i was looking for Quin!

Yes I was planning on running the 50 shot first so retarding the timing at least 1 degree, maybe 2 to be safe. And iv got the toggle switch for arming the system like you stated and then the push switch for WOT. And i hope my fuel pump will be ok, it the walboro from DM and I am going to run a relay system to the pump with a better positive lead to get the voltage as high as possible; ie, higher pressure.

The absolute only reason im going this route is because i pretty much got the system for free and want to see what i can do, Just a new toy to experiment with. I know the holset will out boost the 550's but im lowering the boost to around 15 with the nos, maybe less to be safe. Im just seeing what i can do with the set up and getting it all set up so if i do fry this motor some what its getting the new and tougher guts in the winter anyway and by then i should have a better tune and such.

Another question i have is with my tuning system consisting of the SAFC2 and the HKS VPS i know my tuning is very limited but do you think i will still be able to do what i need necessary for this set up? Because around winter when i do my build ill have a chance to buy a MAFT Pro system for about 300. should i just get the MAFT Pro? That way i can tune timing i think and if i do that ill possibly get larger injectors, not sure what size. But after the build plus maybe MAFT ill be able to turn up the boost with a safe shot of NOS and then safe power.

I dont have any pics or videos yet cuz I haven’t put the nos in yet, waiting on some AN fittings to hook up to the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel solenoid. It should be here thursday and ill get it in then and try to post some pictures for you guys.

But Quin, what did you like or dislike about adding nos to your cars? Did you blow any of you motors or do damage? And was the power increase noticeable?

Nitrous has multiple benefits on a turbo car, so you tend to make more power than what's normal for the jets.

Safety is the primary concern though. If there's a chance that someone will ever drive your car, you might want to look into running a key based arm switch so it can't be messed with (oh, I wonder what this button does... BOOM)

In reguards to locating the bottle, Quin had said its a pain to have it in the hatch and have to get out to turn it on but if you have a remote opener that takes care of the problem. Im not going to buy on of those just to be lazy. The bottle I have sits very well behind the driver seat where the passengers feet would go. And it seems easy enough to just reach around and open the nozzle as needed but... would it be a safety issue to have the bottle right behind me? And i dont have passengers in the back any way, to small back there.

Ha yeah that is a very good point poodles, But i think like most of us we are the only trusted drivers of our own projects well, as long as we own them. And i read that for the nos set ups you are always suppose to turn the pressure off at the tank or disconnect the line when not intended to be used, which is easy to do. And if worst come to worst if some one would drive and see what the buttons all do then it would only give a shot of fuel which would just make it safer due to richness if it happend, i would imagin right? But i complely see your concern.

Thats why i started this post, for ideas and feed back befor i blow my self up or something. lol

What's the point of running nitrous after 3000 RPM??? I thought turbo cars ran nitrous right off idle to reduce turbo lag, and taper off the nitro when the turbo reaches full boost. Either way you have some homework to do. I can tell you the majority of members on this forum (including myself) have very little to no experience with nitrous. You're asking the wrong crowd.

There's alot of good info on this search engine called google.com. You should check it out.

I knew some one was going to point out the reach around....

Well when i researched it said to never inject the nos below 3000, thats what the manual for my kit said to.... Im not sure why though. And the reason im asking the supra crowd is because i was trying to see if any one has done it to a 7m before and how they set it up, to get an idea of the set up befor i install it.

ill take a look at that link for more info. But i have done quite a bit of research on Nitros Oxide, its not like i got this thing and dont know what the hell iv got, just trying to get some pointers befor i do hook it all up and use it.

I wouldn't worry about the low RPM nitrous thing. However, I don't you're launch at 3K or lower, or going from lower than 3K in a roll race, so I don't know how that'd come up anyway. The scoop on that is a lot of intakes run the risk of nitrous puddling up at low RPMs. Seeing as the plenum on a 7M is vertically higher than all of the intake ports I really can't see that happening. Type in nitrous backfire on Youtube if you want to see the aftermath of it happening, though.

I wouldn't worry about that key arming shit. It takes less than five minutes to pull a bottle out of the car. Yes, it was a very noticeable increase, even on just a 50 shot on an NA motor. The second bit of what Poodles said, about turbo cars making more than a shot, is also true. I've never put it on a turbo car, but I have run it on blower cars. I'd say for your first pass run one step bigger fuel pill just to be on the safe side. Worst case scenario, it's rich as hell, and you can swap down to the right one.

Nos Update... Got it all installed and all working... Damn its cool...

I did use the arming switch system and then a WOT switch mounted to the throttle linkage on the cam cover which works flawlessly, Its a sweet electrical set up. I connected the fuel line for the wet jet to my fuel pressure regulator to the extra port (V6) and mounted the solenoids on the drivers shock tower. Then hooked mounted the fogger nozzle 6 inched before the throttle body which is all 2.5 hard piping. And the Bottle was mounted behind the driver seat at the correct angel so the feed tube in the tank only gets the liquid nitrous and being there all i have to do is reach back and turn it on or off instead of getting out of the car. Oh and retarded timing to 7 degrees and richened the tune a bit to be safe on the stock internals on 93 octane.

First run was with a 50 shot at 10psi boost. And with the nos it spooled the turbo almost instantly at 2500rmp... it was sweet so i wanted more.
Turned up the boost to 15 with the 50 shot and it was like a rocket right off the line, beside smoking tires through 2nd lol but once 3rd gripped i was gone pulling hard.

Third run i put in the 75 shot at 15psi boost, due to my crap of a tune right now and being rich on the top end to be safe, it stuttered under WOT running to rich I am pretty sure, 10.5 AFR i think it was lol. Is that bad??? But once it got the rpms up to around 4k them bam 15psi pinned and rocket again. Took it on the interstate for a little run and getting on the entrance ramp i went through the gears, before i knew it i was at 100 plus mph in fourth. It was quick as hell.

I was wasn’t quite happy with the stuttering so i put the 50 shot back in and turned up the boost to 18pst (my personal limit on my stockers but pushing it im sure, rebuild soon so its ok) But the power was unreal to me at least cuz iv been running like 12psi since then with no nos. It was damn fast right off the line. In my opinion all the 50 shot is good for with my set up is getting that holset spooled up almost instantly which already hits like a bitch. I was happy and called it a day.

So as of now thats my set up, 50 shot with 18psi on a real rough tune and by that i mean rich. But when I have time to tune out the safc ill get a good solid graph then probably put the 75 shot back in to see if it cleaned up the stuttering.

Thanks for all the feedback, Ill keep posted on the next runs

You know we need video of this. Have a friend shoot the tachometer and boost guage before and after nitrous. I'd love to see the difference.

I remember back in the day there was this guy that would go to the track with a white package MKIII Supra. If I'm not mistaken all he had was 3" turbo back exhaust, K&N filter & 150shot of nitrous. He was clicking off 12.20's with some drag radials. I can't remember his trap speeds, but it was quick. Stock CT26, but I'm not sure how much boost he was running. Oh, and he would hit the nitrous right off the line. I'm sure he launched around 3000rpms but he would hit it right out of the gate.
