I'm a noob to Supras, but not Toyotas. My first car was an 86 n/a MR2 with 76k original miles, I sold that to buy an 85 n/a hardtop, blew the engine in that, bought a 95 Celica GT, sold that to my dad to pay rent (with a rebuilt 5S-FE), and then was given a 93 Mercury Sable. I came across this 89 n/a on Craigslist, listed for $500. I went there the night that I saw it, told him I'd give him $400 cash, and he agreed! Called AAA and had them tow it to my house that night. After lots of thinking and research, I have concluded that it has a blown head gasket; white smoke, no power, etc...so I need to fix that ASAP. It will have a 1JZ-GTE in the future, but for now I'm going to keep the 7M-GE.
The MR2 has a built 4A-GE (that's still in my garage), and lots of other parts, and absolutely no luxuries; it's the base model which means it's a hardtop, no power seats, no power windows, no power locks, no AC (well, I took it out...) but the Supra is the complete opposite. It has everything except for leather.
