Hey Guys

Extremely noobish question -->

- is it possible to simply replace my current harness with a stock harness from a 7mgte.
NB:My current harness was custom made by the guy that rebuilt my 7mgte.

- after replacing my solenoids in my transmission I am still having an erratic shift problem and D usually starts me in 3rd gear. Im assuming it has something to do with the way the harness was spliced since this problem only occurred after the rebuild.(harness was created after rebuild)

-i'm unable to get into contact with my mechanic to find out why he had to create a harness if I was merely using my 7mgte(with different internals) with a stock a340e transmission....

- Is it simply a bolt on affair for replacing harnesses ie - find a harness that is for a 7mgte auto and simply plug it in to my ecu

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, you will just need to find the correct harness for your car. The 87-88 yellow plug are all the same, taking into account five speed and auto harness are different. 91-92 grey plugs are the same as well. The trick year is 89. Early 89's have the yellow plug and the later ones have a special 89+ harness that is NOT THE SAME AS A 91-92 harness.

Get the harness for your harness and it will be all plug and play!

thank you! now i just need to identify what harness I need. I have a 7mgte with an auto transmission. I can easily check whether my ecu is yellow or grey plug. Anything else I need to look at to identify what harness I need?

Just look what color the plugs are that are under the dash coming off the engine harness by the ECU.

Yellow- Good To Go!
Grey- Need To Know Year.

If the information under your profile is correct, then your 86.5 has a yellow plug, unless some douche changed the whole body engine harness. :p

some douche f*cked with my entire car. Front is wide body ,. rear is narrow body , color/interior combination technically doesn't exist , vin specifies a type that technically wasn't made....this is why confusion abounds...

im not sure what year I have - seems to be a mashup of all sorts. Il have a look at the ecu as soon as I get home
