WOW, I just got the BOSE QC-15, and all I have to say is there just incredible. I have no experience with noise cancelling headphones before but I deffinetly recommend them for anyone who flys, or busses it lots. Personally I'm on the bus about 2 hours a day. With these you can listen to your music lower so they must be better for your hearing:) Plus you can turn them on with no music and use them to sleep!!!

Shure earbuds, work better for that. ;)

Yep, a good pair can drop noise by 12dB or more and need less power to sound louder(being that they're right in your :) ). Only chink in the armor is that earbud cables happen to microphone if you move around a lot (some have clips to minimize it)

My Shure earbuds are actually very good with cable noise. I've never noticed it. Though I have with some of the cheaper earbuds.

Circumaural headphones with a nice seal and insulation can really help drown noise.

A year ago I was looking at the Senheiser HD280Pro headphones. A nice set of headphones are on the "to-buy" list, but not happening for quite awhile.

yeah i spent $500 on my ultimate ears and they are by far the clearest, most sound filling ear buds i've ever used! because of how they fit in your ears, no air can go in or out, thus reducing any noise you would normally hear. i like the fact that they are so small they fit in my pocket with no problems.

These bose ones and those Dr.Dre headphones are awesome :).

Yah was also looking at the Dr Dre ones but like the Bose name, and the've been at this technoligly for 30 years. The only downside is you can't lay you head over like you can with buds, but still damn happy.

Like suprarx7nut was saying they aren't designed to cancel out voices and what not, they still do a very good job of it amazinginly.

I love my earbuds. I bought a Sony pair 3 years ago for $30 and just recently had to replace them. They're damn small, cancel noise very well, and provide excellent music quality. I will never go back to another style of headphones ever again.
