ok guys, i have a weird one for you.
i've been dealing with a little bit of a rough idle and extended crank when starting that i think is due to the way i gapped my new plugs. first off, i installed ngk's that cross over to autolite 3922's. i know the stock gap is 32, but i was told to gap them at 24. since then i've had a bit of a rough idle, but otherwise the car revs perfectly.
well last night i was under the hood with the car running and noticed the silicone vacuum line to my bov was collapsed under idle. since i had a spare piece, i pulled the old one off and the car stalled. i didn't think anything of it and just changed the line, meanwhile i never turned the key off. it took a total of 2 or so minutes. when i went to restart it, it just cranked and cranked, and occasionally made a loud noise in the motor.
i plan on pulling the plugs in the morning and either cleaning them or replacing them.
my questions are, should i just gap them top 32?, is there a chance that i caused some internal damage?, and can the rough idle be caused by my choice of plugs and gap?
for reference, the old plugs were ngk platinums, and gapped to 39-40, and there was a miss at high rpms----- which is why i changed them/
