No Speedometer

My speedo isn't working !!!! It was working OK before eccept for the jumping needle at low speeds. But now, know the needle does move at all.I have the code 42 when i check the flashing O/D light.

So I've checked the resistance at the ECT ECU and it was OK. Now, if I follow the TOYOTA manual i should change the NO 1 speed sensor.

But before and do that, could anyone tell me if a broken speedo cable could give me the code 42 also

Fix the speedometer cable, the number 1 speed sensor is inside the speedometer, being driven by the speedometer cable, without the speedometer working, voila, your problem. .
