Rings may, but it would raise crankcase pressure more so than it would oil pressure.

Engine wear is the primary reason for loss of oil pressure. Too much gap between the gear teeth in the oil pump. loose crank/thrust/rod bearing clearances, worn cams, etc. Also low oil level.

How many miles have you put on the engine since you've owned it? Driving style effects wear pattern. My 7M-GE had ~240k on it when I messed it up. I would regularly see 10-15psi hot idle.

Make sure that oil level is at the "full" mark on the dipstick, or even go the generally recommended 1 quart over (for "spirited" driving and hard cornering).

Rings wouldn't effect oil pressure at all unless you burn enough oil to run low, or you contaminate the oil enough to lower the viscosity.

my n/a has the same really low oil pressure at hot idle, has 200k. It was that way 3k ago when I got it. It still runs fantastic, just old and a little worn out.

Rebuild it would fix it, if you run it till it breaks might cost you more to fix.

What weight oil are you using, I use 5-50.

This thread hurts my brain. Some people are incapable of listening. This poster is clearly in that category.

Put more Lucas oil in. Recommended amount is about 3 quarts, but more is ok.

You can also use a spoonful of moly grease in the radiator and a quart of water in the diff.

All of the above will boost performance and reliability just as much as Lucas oil... None.
