ok there's the number you dial for the time...767-8900, or another number is popcorn (767-2676) at least in California...i dialed it randomly...and coincidentally as of tonight it's discontinued? WTF?:wtc:  did i piss it off because i called so much? (i dial a random number to help my DSL reconnect...dont ask, it works...but anyway)

just call it, you'll see what i mean.

i dont get it...budget cuts? hahaha...but seriously. what gives? what are people supposed to set their clocks to. i mean sure there are local public clocks and atomic clocks but popcorn was nice to have....so why the hell is it gone..and is it gone forever?

Replaced by the Internet.

Also, check every single device connected to your phone lines and make sure there is a DSL filter on every single one (except the modem).

Your DSL is fucked up.

even the modem has a filter, but you plug it into the DSL side instead of the phone line side...

we have filters everywhere, but we have an underground phone line from the pole up the road so we dont have unsightly wires in our yard, which is rather large, and I believe the wires are getting old. I've noticed crackling and white noise when i'm on the phone sometimes and thats not just with a cordless, the one corded phone we have does it too...so i'm trying to get my dad to call and have them replace our line but he tried, they tested and i think since it works most of the time they noticed no problems...i dunno. i'll have to make the call and get a new line i suppose...

i'll remove the filter behind the DSL box to see if maybe that helps. but i believe i'm supposed to have it....according to SBC's directions...otherwise a call will kill the connection.

i was wondering about that number...i kinda figured any ending would work. too bad i never tried it...haha.

i dont really care that its gone i just thought it was more of an oddity than anything. and being replaced by the internet..yeah i see how that works. most computers check the time periodically online too..
