I see alot of people with the "lazy eye" headlight conversion. Has anyone ever done a headlight conversion whereas the head lights (possibly spots) are mounted in the grille, roughly where the signals wrap around the front maybe with small front signal lights to the inside of the proposed headlight location would be?

I've never been in love with the way the headlights look in the up postion but love the wedge shape of the front end with them retracted and I would love to be able to drive the car at night with the no bug eye look. Any ideas on how to facilitate?

(flame suit on and waiting)

That won't work, the beam pattern will be messed up.

I have seen cars with flush mounted head lights in the stock light location...

Here is a local's car:

I'm not an expert on lighting for sure but it doesn't seem that much lower or do you mean because of the recessed location? If it's the latter couldn't you build some kind of clear cover that extends to the edge of the bumper??

IMHO, that looks like, well,...CRAP! :puke: :thumbsdow The lights look way too small for the headlight buckets. I've seen a low opening conversion with small double projector beams, looks way better than the bastardized fog lights. There's a forum member from England that has Triumph motorcycle "Johnny # 5" headlights, :biglaugh: that look awesome.

i just wanted to say that i'm with SupraOfDoom! I too love the pop-up headlights. i'm not that big of a fan of fixed headlight conversions like this, EXCEPT the RE Amemiya RX-7 (FC) Conversion, that is the only one i find really sexy haha

when i used to work at my old job (movie theater), i would turn on the fogs and running(parking, whatever) lights and as i was driving by people exiting the theater, i would flip on my lights. i always got a "wow" from that.

then again, my car looks good at night, terrible during the day :(

suprabad, do a search for "onebad7m" or "soapra". this dude did a soarer front end conversion, and it looks badass in my book. very unique, and still agressive.

i love the look of popups they are just the essential badass sports car factor of the 80's, if you look back at those times, it was NOT a sports car unless it had popups. like the freakin ferrari's.

when you take off out of a parking lot and turn on your lights at the last minute and see those things just rise up out of hte hood its just says. IM HERE, MOVE. sure the car looks like a child that just saw a pair of boobs with those huge cubes sticking up but damn, i luvem.

btw, does anyone know how much drag those things cause at higher speeds. i was going next to my friend at like 130 and dead even with lights up when i turned them down my car kind of coasted ahead a little. has anyone else eperienced that?

CT,
are you saying an nsx has poor night time lights? I figured the factory lights given to a $100k+ car were adequate at night, but what do I know.

Stretch,

Yes, the NSX lighting deal has been dealt with both here and on SF in the past. After somebody actually doing it to their car the swap was deemed not worth it, and a HID system would be better. They just don't light up the road good enough when used on the Mkiii. I think tghe stock foglights were actually giving off more light. HTH :)
