No compresson on 7MGE

Not really a Toyota guy - always into the Detroit Iron, but a friend of mine just picked up an 88 Supra. Has no compression, like the timing belt is out, but the cams turn when he tried to start it.

Does this sound familiar to anyone here? Is it possible that the timing belt just slipped a cog and the thing is just out of time? Could something else be wrong?

see if the cam gear index marks are lined up. there is a mark on each cam gear and marks on the metal plate behind the cam gears. With #1 tdc on the compression stroke ( look in the oil fill hole- if you can see the front lobe on the intake cam pointing up, it is compression. otherwise it is exhaust stroke) the index marks should be pointing straight up, and lined up with the marks on the back plate. The only reason I can think of to have no compression in all cylinders is that one of the cams is 180 deg. out (one mark up one down). Otherwise I dunno....good luck tho.

Thanks for the help.
Going to go look at it tomorrow. I'll let you know if we figure it out.

Hoping it's just the timing belt. Got the car for free and think it will be a fun commuter if we can fix it cheaply.
