Hi all,

This is my first post to this group so patience is appreciated...

My 86.5 Supra was running real rough after warming up and staggering on
acceleration so I took it to my local Toyta dealer after going through a couple
of things (new cap & rotor) cause I'm not really experienced as a mechanic.
Anyway they ended up replacing my Idle Control Valve (IVC) but it was still
running rough. They said that I needed to bring it back it to have the wires &
plugs replaced (~$400) - and that I would need to reschedule since they
didn't have the parts in stock. I drove the car home and it was running even
worse than when I brought it in.

I was reluctant to try to replace these items on my own prior to bringing the
car in because I was intimidated with removing the intake chamber to get
to the two plugs underneath it. Anyway since they (dealer)screwed it up
last go around (they didn't torque the plugs down and they worked
themselves out after a couple of months - thanks a lot dealer guys! )
and I really don't want to fork out more money I'd like to try to do it myself
this go around. Can someone please provide this newbie with any advice
about pulling off the intake chamber to get at the plugs?

More help on these too please ...:1zhelp:
a) Any advice regarding preffered plugs, wires is appreciated. I found good
prices on these items at carparts.com and they also have the intake gasket
kit I'll need to do this job.

b) What is an air intake by-pass hose? The dealer suggested on the write-
up that I need to replace this as well.

c) Since I'm going through this is there any other things I should check or
clean since I'll have the intake chanmber off?

Thanks for any help,
Angelo
