So Im new here. Ive been lurking for a little while, and have gained a lot off of just reading others topics. Figured Id introduce myself.
I live in Lexington, Kentucky and work at the great University of Kentucky. Here we dont give anyone raises for years on end so we can spend $4,000,000 a year for mr. John Callapari to come in and buy us a championship. Im actually a Penn State fan in football and a Villanova fan for basketball. Bet you cant guess the state I grew up in...
On to the important part: my cars.
First is my 1988 Supra N/A that has 270,000 miles on it. It was given to me by my uncle a few years back. Greatest car I have ever driven. Very well taken car of. Not much was ever dont to make it fast, but fast it was. Unfortunately I ignored the signs of a small headgasket leak and it cost me. Blew the engine back in August. Felt like sh*t when it happened. But I still have it, and will rebuild it this coming summer with a 7mgte. I though about going 1jz, but the 7m is cheaper and can be a good engine if you just take care of it.
After ruining that car I was basically SOL in terms of money and cars. Luckily I had a motorcycle to get me by, and by happenstance I fell into a 2004 Honda Civic for $100. Seriously. That said I put a ton of work into it to make it drive just to get it to the damn courthouse. Luckily parts are cheap as heck and easy to work with, so after about 4 months I had it running great and sold it. I swore Id use the money to get a 4x4, but int he end I could turn down saving a supra.
I ended up getting a 1989 Turbo Auto. Has 124,000 on it. The guy I got it from said it had been sitting like a year, but after having looked under it Id say closer to 5 is more accurate. I bought it and had to replace the fuelpump, filter, and front brakes and rotors. Then it took forever just to get it to run(injectors were fouled). It does work now though, and runs strong. Its red with the sport top/targa top. Nice car, but not as nice as the other. It does need work though. The afm probably needs replaced, and probably a speed sensor or two. Havnt had time to play with them. All in all it has thrown 5 codes between the ECU, A/T, and antilock system. So, I call her Red 5.
My plan for the future is to get Red 5 in respectable running order then pass her along. I think I may sell it, but Im also thinking of giving it to my little brother on his 16th bday. Itd be a nice drivable car that he could learn to take care of. Only catch is he lives in Japan with the rest of my family, so itd be a summer car. Probably better that way though.
And pictures!
