Peter, Peter, Peter. I can help with that as well. The good thing about this forums is that most people are very willing to help. I mean we have been there and had not any idea of what a piston was at some point in our lifes. So the best place in my opinion to get answers like Supracentral said would be google. But if the doesnt help the general discussion works well too. Off topic can be helpful for very basic questions. I know it may not seem basic to you but most of the people here are well versed in cars and it is basic to them.
But like I said most people here are very helpful and more than willing to point you in the right direction as long as you are well mannered, respect what people say in the forum and do research on topics so you arent just accepting everything without thinking. Kinda like blind faith
For ex. Lowering the car lowers the center of gravity in the most simplistic sense. And as you know from physics, a lower center of gravity allows for a less "tippy" car. Think of a tall box and a short box. if you push the tall box at the top, it will tip while if you push the short box at the top it is less likey to tip due to it center of gravity. (think of torque from physics and the forces created by a longer plane along which the force is acting).
When someone usually lowers a car they are going for looks and perforance and will go with a stiffer spring/shock to help prevent weight transfer during cornering. This prevention or lessening of weight transfer will lessen the tendency of a car to "roll" during a corner, helping all four wheels remain in contact and creating a better cornering ablilty (from increased tire surface contact for more grip and to keep the car's weight stable and centered.
This is such a vital concept in cornering that some higher end car makers have created variable shocks (such as the tems for the supra) which stiffen the shock but most interestingly a weight damping system which shifts the cars wieght during cornering (I believe that BMW does this on there higher end vechicles).
I hope this helps some.
P.S. a lowered supra is HOT. stock supra is 4x4. I like the lowered look.
