Its not bad if you recognize the power and potential weapon you have at your disposal. I learned how to drive a car on my Dads 88T and then got my own after I got my license. Never been in a wreck.

Just do your best not to make any stupid decisions, but if ya do? such is life :)

Welcome, enjoy the Supra.

A good rule of thumb for a lot of mysterious problems would be to check the codes, its easy and can't hurt.

Don't worry, soon enough you will learn to work on it! Either that or your the luckiest supra owner i have met. If you take care of her, and i mean slave for her, she might just take care of you. Lets just put it this way in the next year you'll probably know how to change a headgasket. Welcome and good luck.

yea i think i will probably have to do an gasket job. my uncle did a engine swap on it about 10 years ago. ok basically heres the history of my supra. dad bought it off my uncle who is a mechanic. uncle imported new 7mgte from japan wi th about 20k miles on it and put it in the supra which is stock 7mgte. put in the engine at 155,xxx miles and now it has 197xxx miles on chasis so you figure theres about 60k miles on the engine. i heard head gasket problems occur around 70k. I honestly dont have the time or tools to be able to really LEARN how to do it unless im watching someone and i learn from them. i wasplanning on just taking it to Aaron at driftmotion to get the head gasket job done right and probably rebuild my tranny (its stock 197k miles) and if recommended my engine as well. ive heard nothing but good things about Driftmotion on here..

thanks for the welcome guys. ^ and yes all my friends are like oh you got a supra?! oh do this and that and this to it. i plan on keeping it mostly stock right now..turbo timer..maybe BOV..gotta slam it like 2 inches..maybe an exhaust. nothing crazy i just wanna rebuild my tranny and maybe engine. i just bought a 300 pc mechanics tool set from sears. so...just in case i really do start working on it myself. OORRR i might just sell the tool set i bought and take it to drift motion for everything :p i heard they are near where i live lol

like stated above there is nothing wrong with being a teenager and owning a supra ... you just have to respect it... and understand that it has the power to hurt you if you are careless...

As my 1st car i had a 240sx with an SR swap, got rid of that for a truck for my dad, had a 240sx with a KA... got rid of that for a Integra GSR.. then traded that for my supra... and that was all before i turned 17... after getting the supra i realized that it had the most power out of all the cars that ive owned and i matured as a driver because of it.... not everyone does tho... now going on 19 everyone says that i drive my car like an old lady lol....

so enjoy your supra but do it in a safe manner ... enjoy working on your supra because that is the only way to learn... you can read all you want on the forums (and thats a good thing dont get me wrong) but getting your hands dirty from your supra is where you will learn ... =)

OH and welcome to supramaina.... lol
