Ok, I know you guys have probably been reading up on the considerably new LS7 427 7.0 small block Z06 engine, 505 hp rated (523 I believe rated by HotRod Magazine) and capabilities of scratching 600hp just from changing over to a set of stage 3 cams, Now my friend owns a 91 Supra 7M non turbo and is in desperate need of help finding any type or way of hybrid/conversion from his stock block to the New LS7 and possibly 6 speed 2006 Z06 tranny even though he knows of people personally himself pushing over 900 horses in Modded Gen 2 Supras.
I don’t quite know why he prefers the LS7, could be the hype or the V8 sound itself but ANY help on the topic would be greatly appreciated. And if you have info, don’t be afraid to let me know in detail.

_______Oh and ive already considered the detail of your middle knuckle and finger for you honorable I6 supra fans, lol j/k thx mucho’s

13,000 for a crate LS7 from GM.

Then the fun off all the custom stuff to get it to install and the tranny on the Z06 on an MKIII? Forget it. It is located in the rear of the car instead of the normal position right next to the motor.

Hope your freind has 30,000 to do this project.

i never understood why they list mods in 'stages'

because them good ole country boys who drive GM cars can read or write so they use lines to mark how good it is. you know like I is ok II is better and III is best.

As figgie has stated, the vettes have a transaxle as opposed to a normal transmission, so thats out. His best bet (both cost wise, and "ease" of install) is an ls1 if he wants to stick with that gen of sbc's. Just as much power potential, and way more plentiful. They even make carb manifolds for ls1's if he really wanted to make it easy.

BTW, its not cams, as they only have one. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest :)

time to bring out the 'mouse' motor again.........

although a sbc in our cars might be a fun project I think a 2jz/gm trans and $5k is a much better option

Joe: If my memory serves me correct, yes. I think I remember that pic being of a 6G72, and yes, that's what the code is for the 3kgt/Stealth V6.

not to disagree with you about this being something for someone with more money than brains.....but, I'm 99% sure the engine will bolt up to a standard t-56 from any 4th gen f-body, which i suppose might cost less than cutting the shit outta the rear floors of your supra to get the transaxle to fit.

why not just stay in the family and find a 1GZ-FE?

it'd be like \\supra engine///_____\\ANOTHER supra engine!//

it makes just as much sense, IMHO

Ok, My bad on the Cams (Plural Error), Used to seeing DOHC, I myself thought the LS7 a 15k engine, Hes runnin a new job, and really has a bond with his supra body, he currently blew his I6, He also knows finding a mechanic that posses the tech know how to wire up an LS7 is gonna be a bitch, but hes gonna get that covered lol, he just needs the kit, i know ive seen renegade kits myself for LS1 and LT1 86 Porsche 944's, i mean if that can be done, can the guy just have an LS7 at the expense of a waste of money?? If anyone knows personally if theres a conversion from 7m to ls1 to ls7 or 7m to ls7 kit, would still be appreciated, thx for responses so far, Im still listening lol

I come from a land down under
Seriously doubt there will ever be a "Kit" as not to many Mk3 owners have the 13k for the motor let alone the rest needed to complete such a swap.

I don't understand this need for a "Kit" anyway as 95% of this will be custom and this is the price for doing something unique.

It would make a nice fun torquey car to drive given the right rear gears.

A T56 is a nightmare swap in our cars if you're concerned about hacking the drive tunnel as the rear extension housing is wider than the hump between the seats and this is the backbone of a unibody car.

There are adapters to fit the R154 to this GM engine right? (Replaces the bell housing IIRC.)

I know GM is using a version of the R150/154 Asin trans in the Colorado pickup, and some Mopar aplications in Jeep's. There are tons of adapters out there for SBC swaps to these transmissions if the Asin gear box has a common bolt pattern where it joins the bell housing. (I don't know if it does, but I'm assuming at risk of making as ass of you and me.... LOL)

Better yet, why not just build up a nice 7M and save a few grand? (I know the LS7 engine is nice, but dang, it's really expensive for what you get from it.) My guess is your friend could find a used I-force V8 out of a wrecked Tundra pickup, supercharge that puppy and have as much fun as the GM swap if all he's looking for is a V8 Supra. We know the Toyota V8 fits into the MK2 AND MK3 chassis.
