New HG - Very Wierd Problem - HELP!!

Hi.

So i installed a new HG. Greddy 1.5mm. It was a re-built Head and the block looks like its been recently re-built too (had warranty stamps).

I changed all the intercooler piping to Hard pipes. Put an HKS SSQV. Here is the problem.

1. The car has NO POWER. When you push the gas, at about 1200 RPM the boost kicks in. Hence the car heats up quickly too. You can hear the BOV going off at 2300 RPM. Really frustrating.

The car lags in running.

The BOV (SSQV) is pushing out air when the car is idling. As soon as i push the throttle open s little bit. It closes it self. Then it open to release the air, but remains open for a long time, hence a longer BOV sound.

The car seems like its starving for air, i have no idea why.

I checked the BOV, and its connected to the Vacuum line right. The line come from the right side of the engine bay. I will take pictures and post them tommorow. Just wanted to get this out there to have some ideas.

The mechanic who did the HG has no idea whats going on. I need to somehow make the turbo not come on that soon. Why would it do that ?


2. The car overheat, i guess this is because of the turbo constantly running, changed the thermostat. Put a new cap on radiator. Water pump seems to be working fine. All fans seem ok. There is a little play in the clutch fan but not that much.

Oh yes, and NO error codes on engine.

BOV is leaking I would assume or vacuum is wrong.
The turbo is always running just not always pushing boost.
Is your timing on right?

Im thinking the cams are way way way way off and or the CPS timing is way off also.

well the timing may be off .... but what exactly does the cams being off mean ... how would i go about fixing thats

He means by the cams being off.. that if the cam gear notches point anywhere but straight up at TDC, the cam timing is off.

That timing could definitely cause your car to run too hot, and have no power.

Sounds like you have 2 seperate problems, leaky SSQV? Make sure you have no vacuum / boost leaks anywhere, and maybe you'll have to call HKS if it still leaks!

Yea, I believe that the BOV shouldn't be pushing air out at idle...even with incorrect timing? I would hook the stock BOV back up and see what happens. Also, how is your idle quality? Does it idle smoothly?

no. it doesnt idle smooth. It goes up and down, like its having problems breathing.

Did you check the timing and reinstall the stock bypass valve?

I would say to put your hand over the SSQV to stop the air from leaking and see if it idles...Replace/repair that if it fixes it.

It should not leak..
