hey everyone, my supra is my first FR, as well as factory turbo car. i had a 94 integra gs-r with a turbonetics turbo kit and lot of problems. im done screwing around with hondas so i sold it and picked up a 92 supra black/black turbo targa 5 speed. i was told this combo for 92's is rare, true? well i had to do a head gasket on it and just finished it and runs strong now, installed some arp head bolts while i was at it too. does anyone have probs getting theirs through emissions? all thats done to it so far is k&n fipk. other than that its stock. thnks, john

I don't know how tough smog check is in AZ, but as long as you have cats, throw no codes, and put the stock airbox back in, you shoudn't have a problem. My 7mgte actually passed in Ca with no cats. I had techtom program a "smog" chip for me for testing. :naughty:

Yea, that's a pretty rare color combo, good year too. You should still pass with the K&N as long as you have the CARB sticker too...at least I think that's how it works.
yup, that is correct, but isn't the fipk an open element? That will definately fail visual.

Who knows! Smog rules change weekly.

The KNN air filter kit is legal for our cars. The smog guys failed me on that too but someone here shown me a website and i printed the article out.
It is a exception for ours cars allowing us to use the KNN filter. I showed it to the smog guys and they passed me. I cannot remember if this law was for California only.

Cheers,
Roy

Im in az and smog is easy as cake. I passed with no cat or muffler and a BHG. So you will be fine. If salvage title make sure you check all your lights to make sure they work as they check those. OR you can say you live where they dont have smog like camp verde or maricopa.

Yea same here, LOL. Not a BHG but yea they were lax as hell. The didnt check anything. Hell one of my friends passed with no air filter at all on a 1JZ big single turbo in a Lexus SC300, My Z car passed and they opened the hood and didnt do a thing and shut it. I just laughed.

On my MKIII I just let it idle good and long enough for the aux fans to kick on and that should lean it out enought to pass with the poorest of conditions.

If it helps the emissions station near Greenfield and Mckellips is the one where they just push em thru. Also the one way far south on Gilbert or Stapely was almost no wait.
