Ok, I blew up my engine. So I found a good deal on a rebuilt engine. $1400. However I dont think that the block and head will be in good enough condition for a metal head gasket. So around how much will it be to have these properly machined? Also im getting a fidanza fly wheel and a new clutch as long as I have the engine out. What else should I do as long as I am yanking the engine? Any input would be helpful.

Get some arp headstuds! I haven't had a mhg put in yet but I have read up a lot on it and I think it costs around 800 for the whole setup (arp headstuds, mhg, and machine work). Correct me if I am wrong.

sorry it's not going to cost that much for a mhg... I did mine while I was swapping out a head... I'm not sure on the machining but my 1.2mm hks mhg was only like 125... and then the arp's were only 90... and since I did the work myself that's all it costed... the head I bought was already milled for the 1.2hg so I'm not sure on the machine work but it can't cost anymore than $50 I'd think...

Are there any good websites to look at prices on new motors?

what's wrong with yours... I'd say rebuild it... b\c you never know what your going to get with any engine unless it's already been rebuilt...

when they milled my head the milling itself was only $60, but they had to pull the cams off($100). when they mill the block they cant just take the shortblock and put it on the mill. they have to dissasemble it, like pistons, rods and crank out. i figure if you go that far why not re-build?

My old engine has a cracked block. So does anyone know how much the machining is to mill the block? Can you just lap it?

I think I might be able to get you a block that was rodknocked... but it was the rod bearings... so just hone the block and you should be good to go...
