i just put in a new engine and tranny, and when i try to start the car, it makes a little click by the ecu when the ignition is turned, then when you release the ignition, you hear a loud click near the starter, but the motor does not turn over at all. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

From how I understand your problem, it might be your starter is out. Your starter can click, but not turn. I'd double check everything, check your car battery for enough power, and give your starter a nice tap. Mine was acting B*tchy, and I hit it with a hammer and she started, but she is still on her way out.
Sorry for the long useless post, but give that a try, again, sounds like a starter.

Check your battery. If you left the battery on the ground ( i.e. concrete) the battery is most likely dead or needs to be recharged.
The starter would not even click over ( the solenoid ) if it were the starter. Think logically. It was working before the motor pull...correct?

yeah, the starter worked fine before pulled it out of the other car, it just makes this pretty loud click when the ignition is released, almost like the starter wants to turn and then when you let off the ignition it just clicks back into place or something

I would doubt check to make the sure the battery is fully charged and also make sure you can turn the engine over by hand. I know you say its new but better check it. The click you are getting when turn the key off is just the starter disengaging which is normal you just don't notice when the cars starts or is trying to start cause there are other noises as well. Once you confirm the engine will turn over and batter is good then only thing really left is the starter. One other is make sure you have a good ground.

I have not driven my supra in months, or I drive it sparingly. And everyone knows during the winter months the cold decreases the batteries charge.
I was at work leaving one night and got in the car and the voltage on my HKS Turbo Timer showed 9 volts w/o ignition! So I tried to crank it, and it did exactly what you just said yours is doing. I thought it was my starter too, but those RARELY go out. Already went through the alternator and such...it was fine. So I replaced the battery and Wallaa! Perfect start every time.:icon_razz
It just CLICKED and did not even start, though the battery was sending enough voltage to turn on gauge lights and what not...but not enough amps to start.
Take your battery out, run it to autozone or something and get it checked, or just buy a new battery!

The obvious ( and most likely place) is the battery, its the winter time and the battery has been sitting.

Check to make sure you have a good positive battery connection to the starter and check to make sure that your signal wire on the back of the starter is correctly attached and not loose or corroded.
the battery was just purchased the same day I tried to start the car, as far as the signal wire goes, is that the little brown conector? if so that was slightly loose because the clip was broken. Also the clock lights and others dim when I try to start the car, so i tried jumping it with a friends car and still did the same thing. If the starter was just stuck from sitting would it do this?
