Im looking at getting the new DM intercooler kit which has the inlet and outlets on the same side. Which seems a lot nicer than the older kit.
I've looked through a bunch of threads about the driftmotion kits, and haven't really got the answer I was looking for.

So to all the guys who run a large intercooler kit or similar, have you noticed any worthy gains/benefits, whether that be slightly more response, power or reduced pressure drop.

I'm currently running a standard CT26 at about 11psi with full exhaust etc etc. Will it be worth it for me to buy this?

Where do you live? if you live in Alaska it wouldn't do much until you max out your stock piping which wouldn't happen with the stock ct26.
But somewhere like here in AZ when it's 115-120 out, a nice big IC will help drop intake charge.

I live in Australia. Temps are all over the place here, being really cold in winter, really hot in summer and everything else in between :)

So other than hot weather you reckon there isn't much in the way of benefits?

Well, I noticed throttle response and better response from the turbo when I switched to my DM kit(Old kit). It also felt a little more alive while in boost.

Hot weather is relative.

I live in Canada. Winter is really cold, summer gets more than warm.

The whole point of an intercooler is to reduce your intake air temps, and the better the intercooler the better it can do that job. I don't think that it's ever a complete waste, and is a good idea is you're planning to bump up the boost. I upgraded mine after the Lexus/550 upgrade, and before the 60-1 turbo. As soon as you bump up the boost on a CT26, you start making lots of heat, and an intercooler helps keep your engine safer. That's my take on it.

If you plan to keep the stock CT26, and don't plan to take boost past about 10 PSI or so (What the stock injectors/AFM are good for without fuel cut) then the stock IC will be okay.

Cool thanks Indigo and Dan. Im planning on running a 60-1 turbo or similar in the near future with a forged 7M that i'm building, so even if it doesn't do much now, I guess its a good investment :)

Im curious to the fitment and if it requires as much relocation as the other kit, something im not to keen on having to do.

I'll get some pics for you guys, I have had it installed on my car for a couple years now. It fits well for a bolt on kit. Oil cooler must be relocated and overflow must be relocated. The hood latch support does not need to be trimmed at all.

Do you have the 'new' kit or the old?

You can see the overflow fits in some of these pics. This will only work if you have an 86.5 supra that has the AC receiver dryer on the passenger side, or if you have removed your AC.

I haven't got to test it out yet but the fitment is pretty good. And it's quite an attention grabber :)

Side note I really need to start working on the exterior of the car..
