What are your plans for the stock exhaust manifold?

Using stock for now but the guys have a upgraded manifold in the works that will bolt up to the boss 550.

Sorry if this offends anybody, but im just curious, how long have you been using your upgraded CT26? All I hear from people is that they dont last long, blah, blah, blah, and apparently yours hasnt failed you.

And also, where did you get the radiator from. With overheating problems the norm on these cars, I want to swap out the rad for a larger unit when Im doing my swap in the coming months. TIA

So it'll be another stock CT flange, but less restrictive log style?

This sounds interesting.

Is Lip making it for SS, or is this something you're talking about making with some friends. :)

From what I understood is that Lip is making it for SS, it will be the stock ct flange but less restrictive yes.

This is not an upgraded CT26, I had an upgraded CT26 with a 62-1 wheel, I am replacing it with this boss turbo. The 62-1 upgrade is smoking and what not, it lasted like 7k miles. 62-1 is just too big. And yes alot of the upgrades do not last long. I got the radiator from Radiatorworld.com 279 bucks shipped, got it the next day.

yeah I knew you still had the CT26 on the car I just wanted to know if you were replacing it because it failed. I just wanted to get a first-hand perspective on it. Sounds like a great deal on that radiator though, thats one to save on the favorites list.

Glad to see more progress Turk! BTW what are your plans for the exhaust manifold? porting it out? also you gotta get us some dyno graphs after u get it on and let us know how spool is! How much HP is that thing rated for also? Happy to see you're Happy!

I wish I knew where to start with porting the mani but I don't. She will get dyno'd in a couple weeks, need to work up a little extra liquid assets here. It is rated for 550.

You could get it extrude honed Turk...

It seems to give good results as it removes material right from the port all the way to the turbo flange.

Only downside would be if you can't use the stock braces with the new Turbo it may be prone to cracking.

How much would something like that go for, machine shop would do this right?

Not really sure where you'd get it done in the States!

It's sometimes called "Power Porting" They pump a slush of abrasive material through it for a few hours and it sands the inside bigger/smoother!

Haven't had a quote on a 7M manifold but I wouldn't expect it to be cheap unless they've done one before (They have to make new tooling each time they do a new one)

I think I will just wait till Decemeber, check out this info I found out about the manifold LIPP is working on(got this info from suprasport forums)

"In the past there were rumors of a high flow stock replacement exhaust manifold in the works. Well those rumors are true. LIPP and SupraSport have been working together on the design of this manifold for some months now. The manifold will be a direct bolt on made out of the same stainless that we use on our elbow and the BOSS 550. The runners and exhaust outlet will be larger with a much smoother flow while allowing the stock heat shields to be used for that low key sleeper appearance. This manifold will also help keep the underhood temps lower. Anyone running the upgraded CT-26 or larger bolt on turbos will benefit from this manifold.

We will keep you notified of any updates and a future release date."

"We are finishing up a few tools right now and then we will be building the manifold. Unfortunently once the tooling is done it will take a couple months to get them cast and done. We are shooting for december right now...our cast products are catching on now so we had to finish machining all the casting too.
It will get down just not on the original time frame. The drawing/CAD portion took longer than expected because we want to be sure it's a better flowing, stronger and of coarse nice looking. We will not have pricing or an idea until our tolling is done. I will post it here first though of coarse.
Thanks
Jack"

This is surely something I will be buying myself for Christmas! :biglaugh:
