Anyone thinking of getting a network hard drive STAY AWAY from the NETGEAR 101. This thing is a POS. So far 2 people I know have had this thing fail and EAT all their data... After talking to tech support in another country for 4 days they could not get the box to attach..

The box uses a non standard file system, so if it does fail you can not remove the drive and stick it in a pc to do a data recovery.. so STAY AWAY its only $79.00 at compusa for a reason..

A friend of mine who works for Denon says to stay away from any network HD for now(all the denon tech guys agree). Says they are all junk or cost so much its just not worth it.

Ive been wanting a network drive for a long time. Something all my machines can share into with out any issue, but Im still waiting ha.

You want a network drive? Setup a PC as a server.

These network drives all suck, and netgear is downright GARBAGE!

Yea.. i tell everyone that. I have had the same server for 6 years, just adding drives for more space. win 2000 server, done. Even made them raid with hot swap bays. better and cheaper then any hot swap nas.
