hey everyone,

I have 88 Mk3 with microtech standalone at 6psi boost, just dyno'd at 245HP and 254TQ Peak.

In future i'm installing a HKS intercooler and turning the boost to 12 psi.

My question is I need a new clutch, and was thinking about buying an Exedy OEM clutch kit for $250, will it hold the added power at 12psi?
Or any other cost effective suggestions?

If I were to guess, I'd say you'll make around 280 to 310 ft-lbs @12psi.
And I would say yes, an Exedy would hold, but maybe not as long as a stock clutch on a stock motor.
In other words, I'd say get something with slightly higher clamp pressure for longevity's sake.
Organic discs are fine, but you should get an uprated pressure plate.

I'm running an ACT xt now for over a year for street driving up to 10psi. Here's what I find:

Radio loud and boosting up a hill to merge onto the hwy at 90mph and I don't even have to think twice that the clutch is or slipped between shifts.

On off switch means you're in. I bought it because once and a while I want to shift in 2nd and even 3rd and "chirp" etc and I can with this.

I still remember being out on a stock clutch and dropping the sup into 2nd and the clutch didn't grab.....no more fun that day
