Need some advice...

My 89 Supra Turbo was upgraded before I purchased it. I have been researching the upgrades and received this email from majestic turbo.

I asked them about the upgraded they did to the turbo I have
"Rebuilt turbo with the 60-1 wheel"

They responded with this
"That upgrade is what we consider a race application , it is good for 450hp and is not good for a street application, because of the spool lag and the immense amount of backpressure. We can downsize yours to a 50 Trim as long as it is rebuildable and that will get you 350hp and will be much better for the street. That would run you about $695.00 and it would take us a few days to do.

What do you guys think? Is that good advice?

Why would you ever want to down grade?

I say use the $695 theyd charge you and keep adding on.

lag is your freind... that just means your motor has room to breathe... IMO

Thats the first thing I said, but I wanted to check. I dont think I am going to go for 450hp but its nice to know its available.

I'm not sure how you would downgrade consideing they're supposed to bore out the compressor housing of the turbo iirc.

JAV's right - they'd have to use a different CT26 housing, and re-bore it.

Check your 60-1 for shaft play... it's my understanding that it is the LEAST reliable of the CT-26 upgrades.

And just FYI - I noticed over @ 7Mpower.com, they've got a guy that's run 420rwhp on a 57trim upgrade, but I don't know how much boost that took!
