so, i know nothing about electronics and or tuning with electronics. i was looking at maf translators. what is the difference between the $25; $200; and the $400 maf translators? i'm sure i will need one for tuning in the future when i actually put all of the parts in the spare bedroom on the car.

they also claim that a blow off valve can be vented into the atmosphere with the product. or is it just like the safc2, that claims the same thing, but only for hot-wire sensor cars, not karmen. that is the real reason i am looking into purchasing one. plus, like i said, it will help with tuning when i start a build. right now i am just acquiring parts.

thanks for the kind advice.

EDIT: i spelled translator wrong...damn it.
EDIT: and advice...:3d_frown:

$25 i have no idea what you are talking about.

the $200 one uses a gm maf sensor in place of the stock afm. it also has a built in basic afc. a lot less adjustable than an afc, but can still do a little tuning w/ it. and yes, if you mount the gm maf sensor in the ic pipe after the bov you can vent it open atmosphere without stalling.

the $400 unit can be setup to run speed density, like a vpc. huge amounts of adjustment and can use a laptop to datalog and tune with. on top of this unit, you would need to buy a map sensor, map harness, intake air temp sensor.

see here: http://www.mkiiitech.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=641 for a ton of info on the $400 unit (maftpro)

oh thats just the harness you use for the $400 unit.

yes you can use the $200 maft w/ the afc2. thats how i had mine ran.

btw, buddy is selling his, not sure if its sold yet or not. its listed in the for sale section. i think he wants $80 shipped for the unit, or $130 shipped for the unit plus maf sensor.

Get the Gen2, i have one, works awesome, just takes a little trial and error and getting used to.

Then buy a GM 3.5 inch MAF and wedge it in the stock accordion hose or run it just before the throttle body and vent to atmosphere without stalling.

Best option for basic upgrades would be the GEN2. unless your looking for a basic standalone (feature wise) the PRO isnt worth the money IMO. Not trying to say the pro is bad because the pro is a sick nasty tuning device, but If your considering the original maft and an AFC, save the money and get the GEN2, its both combined and has air-fuel tracking. i have the GEN 2 as i said and i love it. best money i spent. Cant wait to get the air fuel tracking hooked up, Dialing in 11.8 and tuning itself will be nice.
