Need Help

Well to star things off my car wasn't starting. So I had the battery recharged and it started fine the first time around. Then I drove it to work, but after i got off it took a while for it to start. So i took out the alternator and I lost a nut, and broke a bolt completely off. I brought it in [for testing- shaeff edit]and it was working like it should, so I put it back in and the car starts every time.

It also runs well. But now the dash lights don't come on at all. I checked to see if it was just the setting under the dash, but it wasn't. The only other thing that I touched was the main fuse under the hood of the car. When I took it out, I put it right back in. So any help would be well appreciated. Thanks.

is the dimmer dial set all the way to dim by chance? its the dial on the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel.

thanks for editing the post for me. i was in a hurry. but i did end up trying the dimmer dial after work yesterday and it still didnt work. can anybody help me? i dont know where i should start.

Check for 12volts at the dimmer switch with a voltmeter. If you don't have power there then go back to your fuse box, you probably moved something there, good luck

so the starting issue was solved...by taking out the alternator and putting it back in? ok, maybe a bad connection somewhere. I dont think its relevant to the dash lights unless you seriously messed with some wires while working on it. Obviously the first thing to do is check the fuses. Visual inspection may not be enough. Ive seen fuses that looked ok and still didnt work.
