I just did a hg job on my 90 7mgte and i have its starting but theres a loud whistling noise i can not figure out what it is. Its coming from around the alternator but its not the alternator. Its goes with the rpms so its slower with lower rpms and gets higher pitched with more rpms. I will pull engine codes tonight or tomorrow.

haha, sounds EXACTLY like the problem I had, if it's by the alt, it's probably the intake manifold gasket, spray some carb cleaner around that area, if it is where the leak is, the idle should rise... Did you scrape off the old intake gasket?? I thought that I had, but I took it off, and I had two sandwiched on top of eachother...

yep, vacuum/boost leak. Check that manifold gasket!! I highly doubt that it's a belt, don't bother with those... Spray some carb cleaner here, there and everywhere, find the leak...probably from the intake mani gasket though...

Thats CRAZY. I'd probably shit a brick if my car sounded like that. Good thing you fixed it. It would be weird to pull up next to a SCREAMER at a red light. I'd think their was a huge blower and definatly wouldn't race you. hahaha
